Mats Trollander is peaking yet again...

Dropping jewels back to back on Eurosport right now...

"What these players should do when close calls are being made is they should circle the mark then run away from the spot and let the umpire make the decision...these umpires don't know what a ball mark looks like...not like the players do"...

Keeping going Mats...you troll us wonderfully.

Mat is a drunken old fool. He was pissed Roger does not hit with him the other day when he questioned Rogers' balls he had no issues though

Li Ching Yuen
06-02-2012, 04:12 PM
He also makes some sense at times:

at 3-0 Nadal:

"Schwank right now is seriously considering getting triple bagelled tonight"

but then again he follows it with:

"But Rafa wouldn't do that to him...because Schwank fights too much...he is allowed to though"

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Mats Wilander, the 1982, ‘85, ‘88 champion, believes that if Djokovic were to hold all four major titles at the same time by lifting his first trophy on Parisian clay it would be equal to anything achieved in the sport’s history. “You’d have to put him straight up there with a [Bjorn] Borg, maybe Rafa [Nadal] too, just as an achievement. You couldn’t put him past Roger,” stated Wilander.

He is alright during that show. It's the commentary that delivers these jewels.
I don't have anything against it really, since it's quite entertaining to me.

In comparison, Simon Reed is a flawless announcer/commentator yet when he gets to writing an editorial all hell breaks loose. It's part orchestrated, part hazard.

I think in Wilander's case it's just his personality and the fact that he talks as much as a woman.

I remember that last year he used to do 2 matches per day but this time around I believe they've got more commentating teams so he only gets one match.

In Wilanders defense his job is to make it interesting and exciting for the viewer rather than always being 100% correct. I think that's why he and for example McEnroe works well as commentators. They got a lot of passion for the sport and it shines through!

Mats likes to hype things up, that's his job. But have to agree. If Nole wins he's maybe not second behind Federer but he's ahead of Nadal. Tennis is more than clay. Djokovic is the more complete player. Greater shotmaking ability, higher peak level, better on fast surfaces etc.

With a career slam and holding all slams at the same time Djokovic also has the results to back it up. Right now it seems like Federer was a true #1, Nadal a transitional number 1, and then comes Djokovic as the heir to Federer as a true #1.

Nadal will go down as a player who was 2nd best. The most weeks as nr2 in the open era, the runner-up grand slam (if he loses tomorrow). That's not GOAT credentials. That just shows he was nr2 even in his own era....

I don't deny Nadal's pretty one-dimensional but to say that Nole overtakes him in terms of 'greatness' if he wins RG is just utterly laughable. Yes, tennis is more than clay, but how conveniently you seem to forget that Nadal has also won the career grand slam and major non-clay titles as well. If Nole wins the final tonight, the only thing that he'd have over Nadal as things stand is that he holds all 4 slams at the same time (which is also a record he'd have over Roger). Until Nole surpasses Nadal in slam count and extends his dominance at the top of the game, it's utterly disrespectful to everything Nadal has achieved to say that Nole is "ahead" of Nadal.

True and Nole is not surpassing Rafa anytime soon. Even if he wins today and that is a massive IF, he is still far behind Rafa in everything except the NCYGS and the WTF. He is only a year younger but has a 19 match deficit in matches won. No Olympic Gold. Massive deficit in Masters 1000 won. No channel double. The list is endless.
