Surprising, Simon had all the momentum up a break in the fourth. But then Wawrinka started to find his range and from there Simon didn't adjust.

good riddance to that punk.I've never seen a player refuse to go on the fucking offense as much as Simon. His game is as fucking dull as he is :wavey:

Stani loves his 5 setters and second 5 set win this event. Simon was even more inhibited than usual at times.

26 backhand winners for Stan! The funny thing is that his backhand today looked way better than federer's backhand for quite a long time.
Stan is really top player when he is playing offensively, however he has same problems with confidence as Monfils and from time to time he changes to some shitty defensive counterpouncher while actually his defense cannot be compared to his offensive potential in any way.

I forgot to add - first time I saw Simon playing so offensively.

Fucking idiot Simon. Pushing all match which never works for him on clay, was up a break in every set but choked them all and generally wasted everyone's time.

I don't think Simon was that defensive. He made Stan run a lot. Great match!

I don't know if RG stats is accurate but 88 UE's by Wawa :o He should have finished it in 3 if there wasn't too many stupid long bh slices...

Are you kidding? He had like 20 only in the first set.

Wawrinka: 82W/88UE
Simon: 23W/49UE

well, that's what statistics showed, anyway they are never correct, so you're probably right.

SO
MUCH
WIN

Wawrinka is the perfect example of the tennis I love, and the most beautiful art in the sport.
So, i'm really happy with this result.
And I will still be happy is he beats Tsonga. Deserved, Waw.

This really should have been a three set match. Stan won 5 games in a row entering the second set and played repeatedly careless games after that - I don't think Simon did it to him - and then paid for it by losing the set. Lost his rhythm and then did in the fifth what I expected him to do in three sets.

Boy, that backhand is underrated in MTF conversations. More than 80 winners from Stan and 20 backhand DTL winners if I am not wrong!

Stantastic! :worship:

Tennis friggin WINS!

Soooooo happy to see the useless, boring, dull, tedious, dreary, uninteresting, unexciting, all out defense never offense mug go home.

Wawa was so much more than Simon today. When he lost the TBs I almost broke the table. Simon does nothing and Wawa just couldn't create enough in the TBs. 82-23 Winners.... Good god Simon, just how UGLY can you get???

Fantastic display from Stan after the brainfart the TB's. Nice match.
Anyone else noticed Simon intentionally smashing a ball towards photographer and them complaining to ballkid in the middle of the second set? :o Was quite cocky actually, thought he was a nice guy.

Stan has had a superior drive backhand to Federer from day 1.

Simple Simon doesn't deserve to beat anyone decent with his terrible style of play.

Wawa has the game to be in the top10. It´s a shame he doesn´t have a good point construction and overall movement on court.

Stan has a poor 43% record in tiebreakers. I'm glad he survived nonetheless. He beat Tsonga at Roland Garros last year so he's a genuine chance at a place in the last eight!

Simon should have been defaulted for intentionally hitting a ball into a photographer. That's a no-doubt default right there in such action. Either the umpire didn't see it happening or he was just afraid of defaulting a French player in Roland Garros.

one of the great acts of cowardice today. up a break in the 4th and leading by 2 sets to 1, simon shit all over himself and became too passive.

the thought of winning overwhelmed him.

i have no sympathy for cowards.

If I have to have a pop at the crowd, they should have booed the prick there and then. They were quite 50-50 from the bits I saw, again showing that Simon doesn't enjoy the backing of the Parisiens the way Tsonga, Monfils and Gasquet etc do.

It was pretty sly I saw it and sure the ball wasn't hit hard but you can't do stuff like that and can only think the umpire didn't see it.

He's not fat at all. Shirtless photos of him practising in Paris show him to be completely ripped. He's just built like a bull.

Wawa has the game to be in the top10. It´s a shame he doesn´t have a good point construction and overall movement on court.

So true.....he needs some tactic improvment and coming more often to net.
He just stays back no metter what....if only he can play something like Fog and rush to net when he hits nice shot
