Tough one for the Berdman but got it done in the end. Big Kev double faulting to give the break in the 5th didn't hurt.

That was a great, composed fight back from Tomas. Tomas finally started to hit the first big shot in the points in the 4th set and it paid off.

Berdych lost four previous five-setters at Roland Garros, 6 out of 7 these defeats on clay.

big test for the berdman, he should be prepared now for a possible qf-battle against fed.

Tough win but a great win.

Tomas seem exhausted too, he has overplayed prior to this event, I think. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cilic (or Del Potro, but his health is a big issue) beat him next round. Still, 4th round is a good showing. His chances are far better at Wimbledon in a few weeks than here.

That said, he might have some reserves for the rest of the tournament, we'll see.

Bad draw. Hopefully a better one at US Open where he can make some real inroads.

That was "winning ugly" from Berdych. Well done. Solid in the end (5th set).
Quality was not that high, especially in that 3rd set tiebreak.
Mentally tough from Berdych, but not from (in the end tired) Anderson.

Both have so many winners because of serve and because both were not moving well. That was not claycourt tennis for 1 minute, it was hardcourt tennis with huge serves, especially from Anderson. But the movement is like 10% too slow (for Anderson) and 5% too slow (for Berdych.) which is a bit disappointing.
Both can't handle the slice really well, you always knew where they gonna hit their shots after a slice.

All in all, not the best match. Berdych in R4 but not in great shape.

Best quality match so far this week. Unfortunately Anderson didn't take his chances early in the 4th and was too tired in the end.

Wow ........ tight match. Glad that Berdy won.

This Kevin Anderson will be more dangerous from now on. Raonic, KA, Tomic clown.

This match probably helped Berdych in terms of the whole tournament and how far he can go. Very high quality, forced him to up his game and take charge in a lot of big points and tough situations. Perfect setup match for R4 and QF.

Unlike others here I don't relate everything to Federer Nadal or Djokovic. I may be a Fed fan but I'm also quite a big Berdych fan and seeing him coming through a tough match like this does not make me think "oh no, now Fed has to fight him!" it's first and foremost about Berdych.

If you think that this physically draining match was good for Birdy and the upcoming matches, so be it. I doubt he even survives the next round now.

It's really getting annoying to see big 3 in semis for the past how many slams? 20?
Big 4 most of the time too.

All of them? 4. (Nadal didn't make it AO 2011)

At least one of them? 31 (FO 2004 the last where none of them was in semis)

I still see him in the SF. Would like to see him in the F.

Well, that would be quite an achievement, considering Federer's never lost to Berdych on clay... :)

Kevin Anderson has a total of 5 fans.

3 were sitting in his camp.

I'll count myself and Kevin as the other two. Seriously, this guy gets no respect! I wouldn't want to be any top player who draws "big Kev" at Wimbledon or US Open.

SERIOUS GAME.

Of course it's the first thing anyone thinks of when watching a match with 2 totally unrelated players. :smash:

I agree Anderson should get more respect but a guy like Berdych shouldn't be having this kind of a match with him if he is to be considered a legitimate threat on clay.

I think Anderson is a PITA for any top guy, he takes the ball early strikes it well, plays great offense and serves big.

I don't think the scoreline was that surprising...I think if Berdy had routined Kev 2,2,2 then that would have been really shocking.

Why? So he can bend over to Nadull for the 1000th time? I'd rather have Djokovic in the final.

Good win from Berdman, hope this match hasn't exhausted him and he still has enough in the tank to keep things interesting this RG. I'm a bit worried about his left thigh
