Roland Garros R3: Andy Murray (3) vs. Santiago Giraldo: WWW?

So, who will win? Giraldo seems in good form looking at his results, though beating Tomic isn't exactly something special. Murray, meanwhile is having trouble with his back but managed to get through against Nieminen

Will Murray fight through again or will his injury allow Giraldo to win?

I think Murray will get through this, in 4.

Impossible to predict as we don't know how Murray's fitness will be come Saturday.

If no real problems, Murray in 4. Fitness concerns, Giraldo could easily take it.

Not really confident here-Muzzah's had a disastrous clay season.

expect a similar match to today... giraldo winning 6-3 3-0, then losing in 4/5.

If the injury's legitimate (and I believe it is), then Giraldo should win this.

Murray is injured and his 2012 clay level SUCKS.

He doesn't deserve to defend more than 200 points here. Giraldo should take the match.
Even a non-injured Murray playing this crappy clay season is in danger.

Murray beat Giraldo 6-1 6-2 earlier in the clay season. If Andy is 50% fit he should win in 3 or 4.

Dont see the fuss with Giraldo really, good win over Tomic but I doubt he can beat Murray even at 50%. If the match actually finishes Murray will have won, Giraldo's best hope is a retirement.

Can Santi hit through Murray consistently, can't see it. He was awful against him a month or so ago.

Personally, I think the question is more whether Murray will start? If his back is bad in the hours before the match, I believe that he won't play. He won't want a repeat of the events in the first half of the Nieminen match. Not worth chancing it.

If he is fit, he will win.

The draw is practically forcing Murray to play these matches. If it was a tougher opponent, I could see him withdrawing.

As is, he'll be ready. Murray did beat Giraldo easily this year on clay. Murray in 3.

giraldo isn't winning this you clowns, if murray was injured he would have lost to nieminen, not come back from one set down to take the match.

Giraldo is winning the French so obviously he wins in 3. Vamos.

Even if his back is really hurt, you'd have to favor Murray. Gulf in class is just too big.

Giraldo is a decent player but can't see him hit through Murray, he doesn't have the required firepower to do so.

Sadly, Even on a wheelchair, Murray will get this one. Prove me wrong, Santi.

Giraldo's firepower is inexplicibly underrated.

I agree that he won't be able to 'hit through' Murray, but it will be more of a consistency and point construction issue than lack of power. A lot depends on Murray's injury of course.

I don't know. I really have no idea about Murray's fitness and I picked Giraldo in 3 because even though I am a fan of Murray I still get as annoyed by him as anyone else and also I believe in expecting disaster.

In vaguely related news, I just did a google image search for "sigh" and the first result is...Murray. He is in the wikipedia article on sighs. :haha:

If Giraldo wins this one it's because he's better than Mugray but I see you have aleady prepared an excuse

Murray will win this like Rafa wins all his matches - despite a debilitating injury. VAMOS! Murray, the No.3 seed!

Giraldo won't have the mental strength to beat Murray, just like Nieminen didn't.

If Giraldo wins it will be because he played better than Murray due to Murray's injury.

If Murray's back is as bad as he's trying to make out, he shouldn't be playing. It's as simple as that. What chance does he have against the likes of Djokovic or Nadal if he's playing them on clay with a bad back?

If he's genuinely in pain, he should pull out. Otherwise he should man the fuck up and stop whinging.

Andy Murray has said the back spasms he had yesterday were due to sleeping awkwardly and seperate from his back injury he has had so he should be fine tomorrow. Murray in 3.

Whinging? Most people would have pulled out of that match. Andy's only ever pulled out of one professional match while Djokovic has managed it in 3 seperate slams. Not to mention the fact he's once mentioned an injury that has troubled him since December, whereas Nadal is constantly moaning about his knees and then almost winning in Australia.

Are you his doctor? On what basis do you make that absurd claim?

Edit: Whilst Novak has in the past admittedly retired seemingly far too easily, he's a 5 time Grand Slam champion, so I'm sure he'll sleep easily.

Sure I was just getting my point across that you can't tell Andy Murray to 'man up' after what he done yesterday.

But Andy did come out and explicitly said that his troubles yesterday are seperate from his back injury that he has been carrying. I don't see how it is absurd to suggest a lot of players would pull out when suffering from back spasms which, speaking from experience, are extremely painful.

Pushray isn't injured

He'll win in 3.
You can't know that because you don't watch his matches

He was injured, not sure if he still is though. He could be better, in which case he'll win in 3.
If Giraldo wins this one it's because he's better than Mugray but I see you have aleady prepared an excuse
If he loses it'll most likely be due to his back. Giraldo isn't a player Murray loses to without some kind of problem affecting him.
If he's genuinely in pain, he should pull out. Otherwise he should man the fuck up and stop whinging.
I'd love to see you try to fight your way through a match with a bad back. His back got better and he was counting on that happening. It did and he beat Nieminen. He took a risk, and it paid off, at least in that match.

On the fact that Djokovic is a pussy perhaps? He's the king of retirements out of the top 4 and with Nadull, one of the whiniest bitches I have ever seen, in there too that's quite the achievement.

Nice logic there. As long as you have slams you can whine as much or retire as much as you want. If you have no slams, stop whining!! :spit:

I think Giraldo is winning this, Andy has been in a bad way recently, injured or not. He needs to defend his points, but being 100% for Wimbledon is more important.
