What do you think? arnaud leads 30-0 on serve to stay alive. Play suspended

can david serve himself into the 3rd round tommorrow or will arnaud claw back?

rain will help Clement. Goffin will finish it off, but not before some serious clowning to provide drama.

for tomorrow. Whatever the outcome this Guy has potential for great things.

The rain delay is pretty irrelevant with potentially only four points to go. Goffin will take it but if Clement were a bit closer behind, he'd be able to have a say, but not with things as they are.

I am really surprised how Clement with his amazing game, fighting spirit, originality with his bandana, t-shirts, passion for the game has so little support here. Is this all because stupid "ballboys nightmare"? He is really nice guy off-court.

People are most probably focused predominantly on younger players. I've never loved the guy but I respect him for his talent and spirit, as I'm sure most others do.

Around 4-0 in the last set it started raining pretty hard. most people without raingear left the court and in my opininon poor arnaud did not get the home support he deserves. i dont really believe that he is rude to the ball kids. He was ok in terms of behavior. There was a pretty vocal belgian group cheering David. A bit too much, like applauding Arnaud's errors and such. (Guy Forget was in the crowd cheering and supporting a clear umbrella, very nice, good looking and well-mannered man I must say, giving autographs and taking pictures with kids during change overs.)
Anyways, i thought arnaud was going to take this after the third set but the conditions kind of got the better of him. He did complain about not being able to see well and had a brief conversation with a supervisor about suspending the play earlier.
I hope he gets a decent supporting crowd tomorrow, who knows, he could come back.

Goffin is such a good guy. Really cool, I met him last year when I visited the academy that he practices in, while visiting relatives in Belgium. Not arrogant at all, and I was really surprised by the way he treated me, like no other professional player (besides Clezar, of course.) ever did. Good luck to him, and hopefully he'll be strong enough to finish Clement off and play well against Kubot in R3, and I would bet in a 5-set match between them.

You are absolutely right in that Arnaud deserves a good send-off. I think he is an amazing player and indeed a very nice guy. I actually hope he wins. But I am also excited to see Goffin do well. This guy is a real prospect and will become one of the youngest guys in the Top 100. It's sort of old vs. new generation (though I doubt Goffin will reach a GS final :p).

I like Clement. He's one of the few 'old balls' left, who was playing when Roger's slam participation streak began.

We're down to just Haas, Clement, Hewitt, JCF with Crazy Ivan's retirement, who are slam eligible. Add Roddick and guys like Stepanek along with Ferrer, and that pretty much sums it up. Ferrer and Fish are the only men in Roger's generation other than him still playing at a high level, I can understand you not liking the dude, but honestly, there's not that many of them left and only 3 in the top 100 (with Haas climbing back up like a boss.

Overlooking Goffin a bit if you only put the turnaround down to the conditions that "got the better of Clement".

Sad to see an exciting player like Clement go out to a non-entity like Goffin. In fairness to Goffin, he played very efficiently in the last two sets but he's hard to watch and even harder to root for. He's the definition of DULL.

How lucky is Goffin , huh ?

a) First he loses QR3 in straights,
b ) then gets LL spot ( 25 % chance for that ),
c) then gets sub-par Steppa in R128,
d) then grandpa, who decided to play one last farewell match and whose opponent accidentally couldnt even stand in vertical position in 5th,so grandpa had to play another match
e) then gets very winnable doubles specialist in R32

He is almost as lucky as Nadull , he should play in casino if his luck eventually runs out on tennis courts.:D

I dont't get why people on here always say that stoic players are dull. Do you think Delpo and Federer are dull as well? I admire these players ability to stay cool when things are going bad, in all conditions.

I don't know about the wildcard, but he finished just one withdrawal away from getting a direct entry to the main draw. He surely deserved it more than mugs like Dancevic (injured, just went to get the paycheck) or Beck (useless on clay), who were just ahead of him in the entry list.

True, Goffin got very lucky. Indeed the LL for the tournament - and to think he got so lucky in his first grand slam! But there is a portion in pro tennis life when one needs this sort of luck, this boost to get one out of the challenger circuit and into pro tour level match play. Had he not won the LL, who knows, he might have been busy again in the challengers for the rest of the year. He's a talented youngster. LL was justified. Hope he gets till Rd 4 this RG and plays against his idol. World of good, it would do for his confidence and exposure of this young underrated talent in the tennis world.

If he's not too tired, he can definitely take out Kubot as well.
