Stebe is looking like the poor mans Jarkko Nieminen, he was a bit nervous at first. Tsonga looking comfortable then had a lapse and Stebe settled down played some pretty good stuff.

Tsonga will be happy with the overnight suspension, he should be able to get out of it.

All to play for, game on etc. You can use whichever of those clichés you want, they all bear some truth for this stage of the match. I think the rain break was good for both. Tsonga was struggling with his rhythm and his serve had lost the va va voom. Cedrik was struggling mentally and needed a break from the crowd I feel. I'll obviously back and support the German. He should think of it as a BO3 match now. I think Tsonga may well edge a tight third then run away with the fourth but I hope for a Stebe victory.

I watched Stebe live in Miami vs. Gasquet, in what was a very entertaining three-setter. I was rooting for Gasquet but impressed by Stebe's lefty fh and willingness to attack the net. I think he could become something. From my memory he accelerated through his fh a bit more than Nieminen though, and maybe served-and-volleyed more? Need to try to watch more of this match tomorrow from work if I can - missed it all today.

nice recovery from stebe after a hilarious choke when serving for the set at *5-3 30-30 when he missed the easiest open court volley you'll ever see.

though tsonga shouted out "putain" as he hit his harmless shot towards stebe waiting at the net and was lucky not to be called for a hindrance.

stebe broke next game anyway so no harm done in the end.

Tsonga should win because it seems that Stebe's forehand lacks power while his backhand is better but he plays it crosscourt most of the time, then to Tsonga's forehand.

But Stebe is a nice player imo :)

Great play today from Jo, really overwhelmed Stebe today. The rain delay definitely helped matters for Jo. Looked energized and focused today. Cedrik had no answers and basically self-destructed, I think he simply couldn't handle the play from the other side of the net, and made tons of easy errors.

If Jo shows this sort of play and focus going forward, he can do more than most would expect of him on this surface.

Yesterday we saw the Stebe of 2011 and the Tsonga of 2012, today we saw the Stebe of 2012 and the Tsonga of 2011. That's it.

Both were awful today, but the difference was that one sucked more than the other. There's no way in hell Tsonga will reach the quarters unless he miraculously raises his game.

Jo really sorted out his act after the rain delay. He should never have lost the 2nd set to Stebe.
