Very, very strong match from Tomas. Great returning, dominant from the back of the court, assertive mentality, good serving, everything worked today. He looks to be in dangerous form.

Poor Feddy in QF

Good. Should beat Anderson/Zeballos rather easily next round too and then reach the quarters.

Awesome stats, though inflated by Llodra's mindless net charges and complete absence of a plan B.

Incredibly high quality match. Best tennis of RG so far.

42 winners to 6 UEs? Holy balls

If he gets to Fed...wow. Can't see how he won't win after a performance like this.

I have never seen Berdych at this high level throughout the whole match, beyond believe
Aces 8
Double Faults 0
Winners 42
Unforced Errors 6
impossible stats but true. Llodra played a good match, but Berdych was scary good, beyond brilliant.

It'll be quite legendary if Berdych somehow win the title beating Fed, Djoko, and Nadal in succession.

No jinx intended. Even though I don't like the guy.

Yes it would be funny to see Birdie beat all those arrogants guys...I already expect all their sore losers excuses (balls, surface, French crowd, ballboys etc..)
Happy because the racist guy lost. good day for humanity

Just a guess...but maybe he won't win because playing well against a crapper player today doesn't guarantee success against a better player tomorrow?

I agree with the sentiment though....I really think Berdy has turned a corner this year. He is going to be a hard beat for most anyone he plays here.

Hopefully Fed softens up Berdych....he might even give Novak a run for his money.

That Wimbledon win over Novak was total crap but if he beat him here then it would be thoroughly deserved. His form has on clay has been devastating this year.

This year Berdych had some strong performances.
He can outplay both Fed and Nole playing like this.

Most definitely the #1 'outsider' for the title here, the way he's playing right now. And I wouldn't mind seeing it happen.

42 winners to 6 UEs is insane. At current form Fed is in trouble.

Guys, I didn't see the match, but Llodra matches tend to skew more winners to errors, as Llodra isn't running down balls very much. I really do hope Berdych does well here and scores some upsets though.

 like your optimism, although "nothing" is maybe taking it a bit too far. But of course Feddie has the tools to cook the Birdy.

Maybe, but I do think he's tougher on clay. He had a meek 2011 after the breakthrough 2010 and personally I thought it was so lame that his goal (as stated in Paris indoors 2011) was to be Top 8 and qualify for the year-ender again - like, hello, you were just in a GS final the year before and your goal isn't to win a Slam and break Top 3? That's pathetic. We'll see if he truly believes he can win a big one, may be revealed this year if he can reach another GS F.

But yeah, 42-6 is  Those kind of stats make sense when your opposition is a serve-volleyer and you're passing a lot. Didn't Llodra upset Berdych at the USO a couple of years back? Good vindication for the Czech. Want to see him snatch Fed's wig (although I could also never root for Delpo to lose if they do play).

Definitely was the biggest darkhorse at the start of the tourney, outside the Top 3.

Best player on this quarter of the draw by some margin. Breath taking ball striking from the Berd. Only Nole can stop him if he continues to play like this.

With birdman you never know...,dont like his inconsistency.
I wouldnt put penny on him to beat Llodra and he demolished him.
Cant forget his loss to Robert...and 5 setter with Korolev(LOL Korolev what happend with him)
Unbeliveble

Hopefully Berdych didn't peak too soon  :o but as well as he played today, it was only Llodra so the top guys will be much harder to beat.

Anyway, glad the scum is out :yeah: Well done Berdych.

Did I read this correctly just now. Berdych had 42/6 W/UFEs ratio in this match :scared:.

Well Del Potro was talking half a year before his injury about getting the number one ranking and even with a slam he barely got near it.
Sounds to me like Berdych knows what kind of goals are within his reach year-round.

Yes, you did. And his previous match was pretty scary, too.
Not to mention his Madrid final - the only thing that saved his opponent there was Berdman's tendency to overhit (read: collapse mentally) when push comes to shove.

And somehow I don't think that will happen again, should they again meet in the QF - this particular surface suits Berdych well and Fed hasn't managed to impress me so far. I know whom my cash will be on. :o

It might sound strange, but I think it would be awesome for tennis to finally greet a new first time GS-winner again. So Berdman - go for it and please don't lose your head somewhere on your way there! :rocker2:

No words to describe how much I loved watching Tomas play this well. His passing shots were awesome, not too many errors, didn't face a single BP during the whole thing and took advantage of most of his BP opportunities. And it's not as if Llodra was playing like crap, because he had relatively few UFE as well. It was just a good clean quality match. I'm really really happy for Tomas :)

I'm not one to root against Novak taking this, but if he doesn't take it, then Tomas deserves to. His clay court season has been excellent this year.

Man what a great match from Berdych, he's definitely the fave for the SF in this side of the draw along with Nole.

Berdman would be a great semi finalist providing he brings it and doesn't completely check out/fail to turn up for it.

...and knowing Berdshit, he'll dismantle everyone until QF, then bend down to Olderer in a flurry of UE and choking.
