Rafael Nadal and the Curse of the Pinkish Shirt

As I realize Rafa playing his 1st round match, he is wearing a pinkish shirt.

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/523197_417298024960873_278612362162774_1412771_128 5622153_n.jpg

As a Nadal fan, I am a bit fearful. We all know what happened last time he wore pink at RG back in 09.

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01413/rafael-nadal_1413975c.jpg

Not to mention in the Australian 2011, more red than pink, though.

http://gototennis.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Rafael-Nadal-2011-Australian-Open-outfit_1.jpg

Or Toronto 2010.

http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/rastudio/rastudio1108/rastudio110800054/10186289-toronto-august-12-rafael-nadal-plays-against-kevin-anderson-in-the-rogers-cup-2010-on-august-12-2010.jpg

Point is, these red/pink outfits really ain't the best for Rafa.

So Rafa in RG 2012 is aiming to:

1. Win the title and pass Borg for most RG's in the Open Era with 7.
2. Reverse the curse of the pinkish shirt
3. Reverse the double Simon Reed jinx. One after Monte Carlo, one after Rome.

Lot of work on Rafa's hands this fortnight.

Curse only applies when the player in question is ranked #1.

WTA #1 Vika Azarenka only narrowly avoided the curse of pink yesterday.

what's even more spooky is that each of his shocking losses while wearing red/pink (referring to post 1) occurred while he was seemingly on top.

FO 2009, he had won three of the last four majors
AO 2011, he had won the last three majors
Toronto 2010, immediately following a flawless clay court and grass court season

right now, having beaten Djokovic in both Monte-Carlo and Rome, Nadal is seemingly on top again
we all know that Fed can't beat him right now, and Djoko is on a 2 match losing streak
in addition, with both Fed and Nole in the other half of the draw, Nadal is more favored than ever

dont wanna be superstitious but maybe he should swap to green, or some color very far from the red/pink end of the rainbow

The thing is that with that wild colour Rafa becomes easier target for his opponent. Attracted by his pink shirt they become irritated and hit the ball harder in all anger. That's why he loses important matches wearing pink :p

Well he did play his best in green in 2008.

Do you seriously believe Raonic will get that far? I mean he's been improving but if the weather becomes colder, he's cooked. He needs fast conditions for his monster serve.

Nadal is vulnerable on surfaces that are non-clay. On clay, he's the favourite until his opponent wins the MP against him. And I can't stand the guy or his game.

Rafa is wearing RED! For all those reckless, sweaty-palmed and panicky Fedtards, is the Foreshadowing in Rafa's Shirt actually: ONE MOOOORE RED Nightmare!? I doubt Muger will even get a glimpse of the Clay Warrior this year, as I am anticipating a REAL Final between Rafa and Nole. Frauderer is Finished!

The Ball Girls and Boys are wearing Orange at Roland Garros this year. Perhaps this photo will help the color blind! Here's a hint for the Fedtards: Red is DARKER than Orange or Pink!

Nadal is also fighting the curse of Borg. So far the likes of Nadal, Federer and Sampras have managed to equal several of Borg's records but failed to break them.

This particular record he is trying to break is not a consecutive sequence one though so he will get more than one opportunity at it.

As if Nadal's 2009 loss at RG had anything to do with him wearing a pink shirt!

Pretty disappointing to see certain folks dismiss wearing pink as being 'womanish' (huh?), btw.
1) - Real Men Dare to Wear PINK!
2) - what's so wrong with appearing 'womanly' or 'womanish' in the first place? Are women a kind of second-grade human species? Judging on certain comments in this thread, I somehow get that impression... come on, folks, we're not living in the Middle Ages anymore, at least not in the more civilized parts of the world. Get over yourselves.
3) - that shirt of his isn't pink, it's a rather nice hue of stoney red. Me loves it. :hearts:
