Tursunov triumphs in the claycourt clown classic in straight sets. Of course no one predicted he'd win in straight sets.

Too bad this wasn't streamed.

The actual talented player goes through. Good for the game. Based on what I read on twitter, Dima was playing well and outhitting Soeda. Obviously, Dima's weapons should be too much for a weak counterpuncher/pusher like Soeda, and so it proved.

My opinion from another thread:
As for Soeda, we can only see who he is. Asian challenger type player, he wisely chooses challengers with very poor competition where he can collect points. He doesn´t belong into top 100. Losing to Tursunov in this way? Laughable, completely laughable. Go back to Asia and try to win some Chinese, Japanese, Korean challengers as a 1st seed, lol.

I don´t hate Soeda, but he is simply overrated in rankings. Good result for tennis. Scoreline is almost shocking considering Tursunov and his season. But there´s still Soeda on the other side of the court, so everything is possible.

Damn. This was a real opportunity for Soeda. Please do better at Queen's, Eastbourne and Wimbledon.

Come on man he is in the fine tradition of Asian clay court clowns. Grass well he should do alright there.

Tursunov while he hates clay has won matches on it before even at RG and does have weapons, though they don't fire very often.

the only reason why is even high up there is because of the chennai result. He probably thought that was a challenger too and channeled his inner GOAT for that one.

Sucks that you have to wait until January to see this guy drop though.

I dunno why you're bagging the guy for doing this??? It's a smart move and strategy...as far as i'm concerned - if he can do that and make the top 100 - why not? good on him. There's nothing stopping all the other guys ranked from 70-150 who play challengers and need to get/stay into the top 100 from doing the same ;)

I think what you don't realise is you're laughing at him on clay....put it on the flipside and get some of the claycourt guys who sit in Europe and play claycourt challengers all year 3 meters behind the baseline with their large backswings.....and get them on a carpet or fast hard in the humidity in Asia and see if they can beat Soeda ;) I think you might be suprised

Is he in the top 100 players in the world? debatable.

does he "BELONG" in the top 100? According to the tennis rankings system, yes....So this is the sport, either accept it or not...
