Simply too many errors from Lleyton on the day. Blaz with the ace down break point in the final game was clutch, his serve got him out of several tight games. Lleyton played OK given his lack of matches, this match will have helped him with his rhythm, but just too many mistakes, couldn't hit through nor around Blaz with any consistency.

Blaz kept the error count low, and although he struggled to cross the finish line at the end of the third and fourth sets, he eventually was able to get the win. Big win for Blaz.

Hewitt's lack of match practice cost him here big time, he seemed to be moving ok all things considered.

Kavčič defended his 2nd round points. He was good in parts, at times too passive but stepped up the aggression when down a break in the 1st and typically failed to serve out that set.

Good enough in the end, definitely not the best match.

Blaz :woohoo:

Hewitt still played better than Roodduck and he gave a big fight at the end.

So many errors from Lleyton, though there were glimpses of good stuff from him. Good stuff from Kavcic when he needed it.

At least Hewitt is a fighter. Better performance than the one we saw from the Duck.

Worst I've seen Hewitt return in years. Might just be the last time we see him on clay too.

But I like Kavcic so a good win for him. :)

I'd say Germany will select clay for their DC tie in September. They were meant to make the announcement last Friday but held on for a week, presumably to see how the Australian and German players faired at Roland Garros.

You're right about the returning though. Worst I've ever seen him return, hopefully it's just a matter of getting his eye in with more matches.

good win for Kavcic anyway. Hewitt still needs time to rehab

The fact that Hewitt can take 4 months off the tour and play such a competitive battle with a top 100 player is a good sign, the game is still there.

I'd like to see him play a grass challenger, his health seems to be ok.

Result doesn't matter, all about how Lleyton's body holds up. The game will improve with more training and matchplay. Just happy to see him out there.

Hewitt wasn't so bad, had a couple of chances but you can see that he came from a surgery and had no match practice at all, he made a lot of errors and some simply shots are going wrong today. He need some time to prepare for the grass season with Queens and i think he will be ready at Wimbledon because his fighting spirit is already unbelievable... :worship:
Kavcic very solid today from the baseline and very consistent. Good win for him.

He needs to get some matches in, should do well on the grass providing his body holds up.

Kavcic still hasn't beaten a player in the top 150 this year... he should enjoy this while it lasts.

disgusting move from French tennis federation. wasting a WC on a guy who haven't played a match for 3-4 months and playing one or two clay court matches per year in last 3-4 years is moronic move . At least Hewitt showed how Kavcic is pathetic at the moment, 2rd for him is like winning a tittle

The Aussies awarded the wildcard so bitch at them for giving to to Hewitt and not Matosevic.

Hope the body held up, now time to focus on the grass. Only played here to get a match on the dirt before Davis Cup.

Happy that Blaz has made the 2nd round, he can just have fun against Lord Nolemort on Wednesday.

Hewitt is not only a joke on court, but extremely dumb as well. There is love for tennis. Then there is utter stupidity. Hewitt falls into latter category. Why struggle when your body is clearly failing and you have no chance to even advance past R1 of a slam? Utter waste of a wild card. He should retire already and not waste the organizers' time. Unfortunately, knowing him, he's probably going to stick around until AO 2013 so that he gets another undeserved WC and RLA evening spot :o

Hewitt post match:
The surgery I had after the Australian Open was a last ditch effort. Not many people thought it could be done, but here I am at a Grand Slam.

Like you got in by ranking or something :spit: Bitch is trippin'

:worship: at the expert analysis from Roger Rasheed this morning. Numerous times he said Kavcic was Slovakian. Good to see he was doing his job as a tennis 'expert' and paying close attention to the match.

Damn politics of tennis. I would've loved to see Matosevic in the main draw. There were just so many reasons to give the wild card to Matosevic instead of Hewitt:

Matosevic at career high, in good form, number one seed for qualifiers. Hewitt been out for a while, clay his worst surface, and cares 10x more about Wimbledon. Why not go straight to grass, and save your body the extra adjustment? If Hewitt had won a round here it wouldn't have meant much to him or his career, if Matosevic had won it would've meant a lot. TA can't care much about ticket sales for a French event, so their only reasons would be viewers and press (and rewarding Hewitt for his service). But I'm not just annoyed at TA, I'm annoyed at Hewitt for taking the WC. This has pissed me off ever since Hewitt was rewarded direct entry.

All my points were just as relevant before Hewitt lost by the way.

I just don't understand the point of taking the MDWC. If he wanted matches, well he was already in qualifying so why not play there? Kavcic still hasn't beaten a TOP 150 opponent the entire year, so that shows exactly where Hewitt is really at. Kavcic was one of the best draws he could have hoped for as a WC, and to go down pretty soundly speaks volumes. Matosevic would not have lost this match.
