Expected tough win. Marcel saved 16/20 BPs against his service and hit 55 errors, but it did not cost him. Sousa only lost seven points on serve in the fourth set and Granollers DFd six times, but didn't take advantage of his opportunities.

apparently there was a lot of drama in that match. i'll quote a bit from a report on my website

During the changeover suddenly discussions between the two players began with even some verbal interference by some Portuguese fans. In the next game the inevitable happened and Granollers broke Sousa’s service game and converted his first match point to take the set and the match by 6-4 backed up with a loud “Vamos”. It can only be speculated what the fans or Sousa said to the Spaniard, but according to his reaction it couldn’t have been something nice. After the match one guy in the stands went on to argue with Granollers and this was the time when even Sousa wanted to arbitrate. The Spaniard was really angry and simply left the court.

Looks like fun. Too bad 4 years of Spanish in high school taught me nothing.

I had no idea Granollers was that injured, he was physically limping in that last point they showed. Yea I like how Granollers is looking at the people in crowd saying what, what, what and then shhh

I'd appreciate a translation too.

That seemed absolutely crazy. Sousa didn't shake his hand, obviously.

Marcel celebrating way over the top to rub salt in the wounds :rolls:

From what I understood, Marcel was pretty much saying that it was a tense match with a lot of points that were decided by lucky let cords and winners that landed in the lines and he was a bit angry and disrupted about it. In that changeover Marcel i think was basically saying that he was playing the best he could considering his injury on the leg and that he felt disrespected by, possibly, some of Sousa's comments (maybe regarding that) while some portuguese fan was screaming that he should just shut up and play without complaining. From what I see in the video, at least in the changeover, Sousa wasn't saying anything bad or insulting to Marcel so that probably happened in between points or something. THAT celebration!

Portuguese fans always so classy  Marcel said they were talking to him and insulting him almost the whole match. Good to see he dedicated the win to those losers :rocker:

The video doesn't really tell us everything. Marcel seemed agitated by his injury during the match and I believe the Portuguese fans were heckling him. He felt disrespected by Sousa for some reason (and maybe wanted him to do something about the fans?)

That celebration...

We can`t see the reason of all of this, but is clear that Sousa lacks in mental streght. Sometimes he overreacts and stop being focused on the game, and probably Granollers took advantage on that. The spanish reaction is just deplorable(as the portuguese crowd). A player of is level shouldn`t answer the public and even being rude. And last, i think they shake hands after Granollers shaking the chair umpire.
