Kamke?
Golubev?
Chardy?
Kukushkin?

Can't decide between these 4.

I would say Kamke, he's the worst of them, his weapons are weak

lol... I would love to see WTA players with his BH...

I thought the question was at the ATP level, so Korolev is irrelevant here. Of course he would win either. Kudryavtsev and Brown deserve huge mentions here also if challengers are included

The answer is Korolev but he's not on the ATP tour anymore.

Golubev can develop some points and has some point construction ability, so I wouldn't say it's him.

Probably Dustin Brown at his worst.

Damn, how could I forget about Rosol. He's definitely the answer since that literally is his game, bashing the ball. Other players have at least something else they bring to the table, a serve, slice, some net game. Rosol does not.

I'm a fan of Petzschner, but at his worst Picasso deserves mention here. Interesting to me that he does much better in doubles - the quicker points must suit him better.

Agree about Chardy but I really wouldn't say Leo is a pure ballbasher, he can slice and actually think and construct some points. IMO, that's his better version, when he is a bit more patient and doesn't rush too much while still trying to dictate and keep rallies short. When he is in his full ballbashing mode, way too hit-or-miss and inconsistent.

Dolgo is tactically stupid - he gets fooled into being drawn into a slicing battle in AO against Tomic and loses whereas if he just overpowered Tomic he would have won.

He's more schitzophrenic - one moment basher, one moment pusher.

i think you havent seen golubev for quite some time, have you?

i believe due to injuries he's not bashing anymore, and perhaps this is also a reason of his downfall - same what happened to gabashvili a few years before

chardy is a pretty brainless ballsmacker, he also has a very long history of choking

if the challengers count, kudryavtsev deserves a special mention - he just leaves his head at home and goes play tennis

Reading various posts and threads on this board, it is clear people share very different opinions. But, even when talking of gamestyles and personalities, everyone seems to have hiw own idea of a tennis player.

An example? Ballbashers. There is a lot of confusion here.

And what about then Brainless Ballbashers, AKA players who hit the ball as much as they can going for a random winner at every shot? Which ATP players can be considered brainless ballbashers?

Rosol seems to be the King of them. Others?

J99
10-01-2012, 12:54 PM
Del Po and Berdych are the kings of this, not Rosol.

Del Po and Berdych are the kings of this, not Rosol.

I don't think. The prove is that, differently from DelPo and Berdych, Rosol can really get into a bad day, where a few shots go in and many land out of court or hit the net.

Rosol at Wimby against Nadal = Peak Rosol/GOATsol, pure brainless ballbashing :worship:
Rosol... everywhere else = Everyday Rosol, hits some good winners but some very stupid UEs, too ;)

Berdych hasn't been a brainless ballbasher for years now, anyone that mentions him clearly hasn't watched him the last few years, if anything he's got the most controlled aggression of any big hitter now.

Del Potro and Berdych are among most ,,non-ballbashers,, big hitters

Delpo hits with tospin on his shots and unleashed his monster FH when has set-up point, but basically he is playing from baseline and staying in rally and trying to take advantage with his powerfull strokes-not risky high % strokes - that´s why his record vs other big hitters is such great he is not making stupid errors like them

Berdych - he is much different player than he was years ago - he has very controlled groundstrokes and his FH changed - look at youtube his old matches and now his topspin FH and his easily controlled agression

Gulbis - this guy is joke, you think he is finally doing better and than another tournament and again he makes like million UE and is blasting winners to the net... all the time...

Gulbis and Rosol without any tiny doubt, they cannot be compared to the other ones you quote.

People probably haven't watched Chardy for a while : he now uses his brain a lot on court and has some versatility.

PS : only watched few games from Korolev then can't judge, but the other ones I saw.

Although James Blake is at the end of his career he has always been a supremely idiotic ball basher. The shame is that before his injuries Blake had great speed and movement which should have made his defense as strong as his offense. Blake may be the greatest wasted talent in tennis history.

I think they were playing the same game before changing their nationality. Russia probably produces the biggest brainless ballbashers on both tours.
