What slam surface is the fastest one at this moment, whats the most important part of the court being speedy, is it the bounce, or the texture of the surface it self?

Do you think there is difference from court to court, or they are all generally the same atm?

USO is the fastest.

The thing is that the balls are aproximately 40-50% of the speed of tennis, so surface can be slow as RG and balls much faster than AO, which makes them equal at the end of the day.

USO is fastest as in the slams the organizers can chose the balls, so normally the Americans try to help their peepz by using fast balls (just as the French in RG).

Anyways, check a vid from some matches of Connors at USO and compared with the speed nowadays - light years difference

It has to do much more with the type of balls they play.
Since last year they are using Babolat, which are little bit lighter -it gives good servers advantage.

USO -> Wimbledon/RG -> AO I think.

USO was slowed down last year, probably in order to fit in.

It's hard to tell.

Over last couple of yeaers it had been USO, but 2011 USO was slower, so last year i would say Wimby was fastest. - But the speed difference in 2011 was most similar in history of all slams, RG with quicker balls, AO probably slower than RG, than you have Wimby 2nd week grass - a.k.a. green clay and dramatically slower USO, because of ,,mistake,, of painting or what the crap. So far RG-AO i think look very similar , slow HC and faster clay generally i think are very similar speed wise.

Agree that balls are very important, but generally slam-tournaments speed can be different not only every year, but every day - balls, surface,, weather - all 3 are important for speed overall. - Last year RG had quicker balls, and you see the difference, weather is very important - very hot dry vs cold humid i think the difference is very clear and of course surface, i mean clay and grass always will be speed wise different no matter what they do with it.

It is said that the balls are a little slower this year. And by the look of it, it does seem slower even in these pretty hot conditions.

Lol @ Wimbledon being the fastest. Of course grass takes a serve well and it will slide through.....but the tufted rye grass make groundies sit right up. Couple that with the big clown balls that they use that fluff even bigger....then Wimbledon might have the slowest play perhaps barring AO.

USO remains fastest imo, but not by much. The homogenizing muppets embarked on a program of surface slowing many moons ago...much to the detriment of the sport. Now the best tennis is played indoors...and outdoors we have week-long borefests.:(

USO is still the fastest but if they make another "mistake" this year it can very well fall behind RG and Wimbledon. AO is the slowest.

I think we all agree it should be Wimbledon ! So why is it USO ? Any ideas why ?

RG & USO. But with tennis court surfaces (http://www.decoturf.com) changing, I don't know if this would be the case if either changed their current surfaces.
