Passable performance for the former champion. A few too many loose errors, service percentage was not great. But overall simply had too much court craft and power for Dasnieres and dictated play from the baseline. Really has a great shot in R2 vs Cilic.

No danger from DdV, JC stayed calm even at break down in the second as he was in every service game of the Frenchman.

got broken to start the match then reeled off 6 games. Was down 3-0 in the second set before winning 5 of the next 6. 3rd set he was ahead the whole time and the best set from him

Good victory for JCF . At this present time of his career every victory counts. Will see what he can produce against Cilic but if he can play some descent tennis can give the Croatian a tough fight. Definitely a match to watch.
