Same player that is still Canada's greatest tennis player. Daniel Nestor.

I say Andrew Snazjder, He was ranked as high #46 in the world. I'm going with ranking basically.

Raonic better than rusedski? Don't think so.

As far as I can remember it was Rudesdki but I understand Canadian's reasons to hate him. Raonic is by far the best Canadian I can bring to my mind since late 70ties.
I saw Andrew Sznajder in a DC tie and I can say he was not a bad player at all besides he used to roll his two backhand as a baseball bat (ok serve, descent forehand and backhand but he was nothing extraordinary).
I know you are focused on the best singles players but Canada produced some great doubles players like Daniel Nestor, Grant Connell and Glenn Michibata

Raonic is better than Rusedski ever was as a Canadian. He was better when he turned British, but he wasn't Canadian then so it doesn't count

Nestor ... although I do feel that Raonic will become very special ...

Raonic isn't even "Canadian produced" so it really doesn't matter.

Yep, Greg is more "Canadian" than Milos

Oh good, we now have the nationalists out in this thread.

He probably learned how to play tennis in Montenegro by the age of 3.

It's funny, Canadian's want no part of Rudeski, Levine, Pierce yet members of the former Yugoslavia want anyone who is at all related to the area, Raonic, Tomic, etc.

I like Levine. He had to move when he was 13 because of his brothers illness. I can understand that, and he probably learned most of his tennis in the US anyway. But Rusedski was a Canadian pro for years and then turned British. Get his name outta here:o

He clearly was a intelligent man who had his priorities sorted out. :wavey:

what the hell my friend. we are all so mixed up here (natives are the only 'true Canadians')... Milos was like 3 yo old when his family moved to Canada. Who, he should represent, Yugoslavia ?

Even though this poll is limited to singles players, I'd still vote Nestor. Only Canadian to ever defeat the #1 player in the world, lowest-ranked player to ever defeat a #1, huge win over Kuerten in Davis Cup. The arguments about Milos not being a Canadian player are absurd. If that disqualifies him, it also disqualifies Nestor, who was also born in the former-Yugoslavia. On the bright side of that argument, we would then have a Canadian singles Slam winner - Mary Pierce. :-) If we can't count her, I guess, Carling Bassett? Highest ranked Canadian player ever. Kelesi and Wozniak have also made it higher than any man thus far (though I think Milos recently tied Woz.....)

there are alot of players who play for a different country then the one they were born in. Milos is canadian , he says he feels canadian and that settles it. Who cares where you were born?

i dont think rusedski moving to britian should disqualify him either. Its kind of like an argument that i had with another poster in the canadian thread about what would happen if frank dancevic moved to serbia to be with his girlfriend. He might change nationalities but so what? he's still caqnadian born. You wouldnt expect greg to move to london and still represent canada and then expect to get funding from that tennis federation if he wasnt going to play for their country

Since Rusedski represented Britain at the international level, he should count as British for this discussion. He's as "Canadian" as Owen Hargreaves is.

Thus, the answer is Nestor.

he was born in canada, he represented canada for a period. If milos ever started representing serbia would we disregard everything he did while playing for canada?

I agree though that nestor is and always will be(in my oppinion)the greatest canadian to play the game

nope, but what Rusedski did while playing for Canada isn't as good as what Milos has done thus far.;)

This thread should be on the Canada tennis page - not GM. You're just asking for trolls.
