How many Futures would I have to win between August until the end of the year in order to have a chance to qualify to play Australian Open 2013?

Well you'd have to get your ranking to about 210 to guarantee it. 243 ATP points. You'd have to win 14 Futures tournaments. That, or some challengers.

Well, youll need about 550 points. At ~25 points a pop, 22, give or take.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Go get em, tiger.

Ed: Ups, i read as in qualify for main draw. But Johnny already got it.

You should be ranked around #240, so you should have something like 200 points.

By winning a 10,000 Future you gain 17 points; Future 15,000 25 points; Future 15,000 +H 33 points.

Usually the cut is around 280 so only 170 points. That is only 10 10k futures that you need to win.

Just take them all and go for direct acceptance.

As of right now I am playing:

- SPAIN F22 FUTURES - XATIVA
- SPAIN F23 FUTURES - IRUN
- SPAIN F24 FUTURES - VIGO
- SPAIN F25 FUTURES - OURENSE

I would have to win pretty much every Future I enter, correct?

I have been traning on clay for 3 months in Australia. The clay is not the same but its better then training on hard court. I am also training all of june/July at Sanchez-Casal to prepare myself for the Spanish Futures.

How about winning a match first, before asking how many futures, points etc? Just sayin' :)

Your best return is 1 point and you want to know how many you have to WIN to get into French Open Qualies ? I admire your ambition but this sounds highly unlikely . Josh Goodall has won 7 10k,s 1 15k and been in 2 15k finals. And he,s still not certain at about 227 in the world. If your serious you should try aim at getting 2 points first never mind getting comfortable at that level !

I understand what both of you are saying but I want to know if it is realistically possible to play in next years Aus Open.

Eeriet, play some Challengers in Asia, they are easier than Spanish futures and you win more points.

Definetly avoid the futures in Spain,USA,France. Go for ones in Cambodia, Panama or Iran.

Most of my futures are in Spain, are you telling me to avoid because they are the hardest?

The futures in the USA are the hardest, but Spain is probably 2nd. You will get some really good players even in qualies. If you were to go to some other nations there would be some prtety poor players in the qualie rounds.

Realistically? You aren't playing in 2013 Aussie Open if your best result so far is 0-6 1-6...how can people possibly be this delusional?

If your 24 , I ,de say don,t think about The Australian Open AT ALL ! Your not ranked , work hard and focus on one match at a time play futures and work hard, if u can some how get to about 450 try go onto qualifying for Challengers and try get good there. But seriously it,s 1 thing at a time. Thinking about playing Australian Open Qualies when your not ranked is pie in the sky !

Our futures arn,t rubbish , there a mixed bag ! There are a few very strong 15ks a year generally thought it,s a fairly average standard for futures !

All I was doing was joking about the standard of British Tennis . I know professional tennis is tough ! How tough I don,t know , I just know I would be hopeless as I struggle to get results as a National player . I am not even up to that standard !

Compared to Futures in south-east Asia and Africa, British Futures tourneys are absurdly hard. Go and try and get your first point at whatever cost, so you can focus on at least making MD of 10k Futures, the first step is your first point.

IMHO playing on Clay in Spain is the worst possible idea. Someone earlier said that Futures are weaker in Spain than the US.... not so sure about that. You have professional players from the two deepest pools of tennis talent in the world; the French and Spanish federations, competing in these leagues. To even sign in to qualifying is tough- and these guys are making money and training consistently to play a good level of national tennis where they get paid a lot more than the states. Not to mention the German Bundesliga players coming over to play. Most of whom are born dirtballers.

Personally I'd have a crack at the US Futures before taking those on, but get out to Asia or Africa and play those first!
