Winning which of the following tournaments is the more prestigious?

Thread title says it all, really.

Since we all can agree that the 4 slams are the most important, followed by the WTF, which is most prestigious after that?

For me, its Wimbledon, If I retired prematurely but still won Wimbledon, I would be satisfied with my career. Everything else doesn't mean to me as much.

Wish it was DC but sadly it's not. Olympics? Not even sure tennis belongs there.

Indian Wells/Miami/Monte Carlo? At least one of them should be a 500. They are the best options to downgrade. Of the rest I pick Paris. Indoor got no slam so that makes Paris most prestigious (in my book)

Find me the other ones, and Action Jackson can merge them.

Otherwise, your lips, my ass, they should meet :wavey:

Rome is probably the most prestigous of the master series events if we look back at history.

Olympics feels more important than anything else on the list, however Davis cup is a team effort and not individual prestige.

Cincinnati the 5th slam

Depends for me.

Ljubicic's Davis Cup glory > anything else.
Olympics
The traditional Masters events
The clown events of Madrid/Shanghai
Boredo's Davis Cup winners' medal steal

Basically for me DC ranks depending on how much said player contributed to its success.

You can't compare a team competition (davis cup) with the other events).

why even bother with this thread? no player on tour would argue that any other tournament out of the Grand Slams is anywhere NEAR as important as the Olympics. hell some players argue that the olympics are MORE important than Slams...

strange thread, don't get the point, no masters event is as important or close to as important as the Olympics nor is the WTF as important...

goes something like Grand Slams > (maybe just maybe, arguable) Olympics >>> WTF >>> Masters 1000s >>> everything else

Between OG and DC. Maybe OG because DC is a team effort and depends a lot on the overall quality of the players in the country, not just yourself.

The true answer is Newport.

Seriously though, it's the Olympics. DC has lost a lot of relevance recently.

Most prestigious Masters is Monte Carlo.

I'd say a Masters title is the more remarkable achievement on a tennis player's resume (and I'd go with IW, Miami or Cincy) but the WORLD knows what an Olympic Gold Medal is.

So I'd go with the Olympics...just because it's a more widely known award.

Davis Cup by far. The Olympics has NO historical cachet in tennis. It is a complete irrelevance, just as tennis is irrelevant to the Olympics. The Davis Cup has been going for over a century, with best-of-5 matches on all surfaces & some of the greatest matches of all time. Nearly every great player has anchored his team to a Davis Cup win; hardly any great player has ever won the Olympics. In fact, precisely 2 have.

The Olympics has NO historical cachet in tennis.

Except, you know, that it was one of the original nine sports played in the first modern Olympics.

Davis Cup is a team event where you can win one by doing barely anything.
