No chance for Berdshit.

The score of Nadal's 2 matches here doesn't really share the whole story, he looks kind of vulnerable.

But then saying that Berdych looked dead for most of today's match so Nadal should routine him. :(

Only chance for Berdych is if he has one hell of an awesome serving day, Nadal struggles to return that serve more than a lot of the other top players.

Will be a tough match, Berdych if on, could definitely pull the upset.

Nadal needs to be on point.

Berdych needs to pretend he's playing Federer to activate his 600% boost.

It really is one of the weirdest things in tennis.

I mean even his 2nd serve suddenly goes into God mode, how the fuck is something like that even possible?

Nadal has been in some kinda hyper mood the last 2 or 3 times he's played Berdy

he fears Berdy's game but Berdy will flop anyway if he ever gets in a position to win - like those previous matches

Berdych needs to pretend he's playing Federer to activate his 600% boost.good point

If they had met in Madrid we would have seen a bludgeoning of the spaniard. As it is, maybe a tight match with Nadal prevailing in 3.

Rafa in 2 probably. Berdych seems tired and needs to be redlining to hit through Nadal on these courts.

I would love Tomas to get the win, but realistically he shouldn't even take a set. Like in Australia, he will need to paint corners and lines consistently (and serve well) to have any chance of hitting through Nadal on such a slow surface.

It's strange to think he lifts his game at least 6 times his usual game against Federer, rather than against Nadal. Always think it would be the opposite. Nadal's groundies sit up to his strike zones better than Fed's groundies.

But he really is something incredible when he's in 600% mode. He doesn't miss a single ball, and suddenly moves like a possessed man. Next time we see him, he might hit a 500 kph ace or something.

Berdych will probably lose in two tight sets.

Instead of lifting his game 6x, he's gonna implode 6x the other way, which is a damn shame.

Can the italians send a truck to Madrid and collect some of that sweet blue clay? The orange dustbowl with wind won't benefit mr Berd. Still a chance but piggy got the edge. Hopefully Berdych brings his best tennis

Berdych in three. Though his results might suggest so, Nadal's actually not been that brilliant from what I've seen.

All this optimism for Tomas is inspiring, haha!

I think Rafa in 2. But I'd love to be wrong :)

Nadal will win obviously, slow clay, Tomas won´t hit through him, will make many UE, also serve is here less effective than in Madrid or HC. Nadal didn´t lost set on red clay so far this season so really i can´t imagine him loss to Berdych.

berdych has no chance tomorrow. he has his seat booked already. he is leaving town after the match. maybe even right in the middle of the match.

and that does not mean that i am happy with the clay warrior.

It isn't really, when you think about it.
From about 2003-2008, all we ever heard about is how Federer was the greatest player ever, and no one could beat him. The next generation then grew up aspiring to beat him and IMO utilize tactics or gameplay that have been designed to hurt Fed the most.
Of course, from 2008-onwards, Nadal is Federer's peer (and in many opinions surpassed him), but you can still see to this day, a win over RF is like an ultimate career dream for the rank and file of tennis.

Back on topic - yes, Berdych's entire game exists to trouble Fed. Nadal will eat him alive as usual, and it won't even be close.

Nadal will school Berdshit.

It will be a brutal display of classic clay court tennis against a mindless basher who can't keep the ball in play in rallies over 5 shots.

Nadal in ruthless humiliation 6-1 6-2.

Considering how Berdych folded against Federer, I'm assuming that he COULD have a chance to win but will ultimately blow it.

7-5, 7-5 Nadal

It's time to stop listening to your heart, lest you have a heart attack.

Nadal will put down Berdshit like Mike Tyson would put down some random featherweight.

Don't fight against the inevitable, my deluded friend.

Nadal on clay is a sight to behold. Brainless ballbashing will not suffice against someone of his talent. Bershit will be taught a very cruel lesson today.

come on this is Nadal on regular non blue clay. Berdych will have to play out of his socks to beat him, he just cannot power through Nadal even on Rome Clay which isn't as slow as some others. the only chance he's got is if his serve is absolutely on fire and Nadal has an off day.

Don't see how Berdych can win. After seemingly destined to being a true nightmare for Rafa in their early years back when Berdych actually had a 3-1 positive H2H with Rafa, he has since really become completely weak mentally against Nadal. Ironically, this has all happened after his last victory over Nadal in Madrid when he sushed the crowd. Maybe Rafa beat him up in the back of the lockers so now Berdych is afriad to even take sets off Rafa. He has only picked up 2 sets over Rafa in their last 10 meetings... And Berdych is supposed to be a player that Rafa does not like a face. Even more ironic is that since he has become mentally poor against Rafa, his mental strength against Federer has only increased. I guess it is one or the other.

Anyways, as always, Berdych could upset any player in the world. However, as I just mentioned, Berdych hasn't beaten Nadal since 2006 so I sincerely doubt he will break the streak here on clay. He has a chance to pull a Soderling on clay, as the surface does work for him, not to mention he has been playing great tennis the past few weeks.

I'll say Rafa in three.

Berdych if he plays to his real potential will destroy Nadal. But as usual Berdych will underperform and Nadal will Moonball his way to victory....... Or Wait.............is there some Hope :yeah:

05-18-2012, 06:11 AM
Come on. Why does Tomas have this many votes. There is a reason he hasn't beaten Rafa since 2004. Rafa does not forget and he certainly does NOT forgive. Straight sets snooze fest win for the clay king. This isn't blue "clay".

Berdych needs to pretend he's playing Federer to activate his 600% boost.

LOL :superlol: but the fact is, you have a point there. Some ("peak boost mode") players rapidly peak themselves when they meet a certain player, like Murray against Federer in ATP 1000 serie matches.

Ad Berdych has played some great tennis over the past 2 weeks and Nadal has been a bit on and off I'm gonna say Nadal in 3. And that's giving Berdych the benefit of the doubt. Nadal in straights wouldn't surprise me at all.

berdych has been playing above average tennis for the past couple of weeks but i am afraid this is just a bad match up for him. nadal will just draw out the errors from him and watch him implode.
