Great effort from the South Tyrolean sex machine after the slow start. Played very good tennis, didn't get pissed off with the poor break point conversion rate 1/11. The drop volley to bring up match point was class.

Even managed to serve it out and lively Italian crowd.

Just one world: WOW :worship:

Andreas fought hard to get this after a flop start of the match. He didn't give up, even when John's serve was demolishing all his various tries. I am so proud of him, really.

John  I really hated his serve today  He was far from his best, but no shame in losing against Andy

Oh, and the crowd :worship: This event is great, thank you all.

Well I wouldn't get pissed at the poor BPC rate, as Isner is the best at saving BP's on tour.

For me,Isner is a threat to the top players on any surface but on the other hand the lower ranked players are always a threat to him.;)

Isner had no business being in the 2nd round to begin with.

How did this clay mug beat Roger on clay?! :o
The people who were responsible for the court in that Davis Cup round should be fired!!!

Congrats Seppi.

He's pacing himself for Davis Cup in September. You know John can't afford to expend too much energy before then if he is going to beat Nadal and Ferrer on clay in Spain.

John's serve really bailed him out the final two sets. Seppi was totally controlling baseline play the last 1+ hour. Very hard fought match, Seppi made only 18 errors the entire match and his solidity ended up being the determining factor. After the double break start in the first set where Seppi came out misfiring and making poor errors, he tightened his game up and was constructing points so efficiently. Such an intelligent player. John didn't have an answer by the end of the match as his serve started deserting him once he got tired.

One of the most entertaining matches I've seen in a while. Solid effort by both players, it was clear that they gave their best.

Even though I am really happy with the outcome, I can't help but feel bad for John, this victory would've helped him stay in top 10 by the time of Roland Garros. He deserves it, he really improved his game this year.

What a great match! The crowd and indeed Seppi himself completely won me over in the beginning of the 2nd set and it was so much fun to watch!

Isner was really very bad most of the time and even s 2nd serve usually meant Seppi will have the point. Isner stayed alive in the 3rd solely on serves and nothing else so I'd definitely say tennis won here!

Seppi had a wonderful match. Played very well from the back line and kept it very offensive even with his backhand. Balls went in very deep forcing Isner to hit them much lower than he would like and Seppi seemed to do everything right, attacked the net on time, played it safe when needed and indeed going for his winners at the best of times. Isner did absolutely nothing for an entire set and deserved to lose.

And that 5th game in the 3rd set... 7(!) break points saved by Isner's first serve, he did not miss a first serve on BP in that game which was insane. I can't believe he actually saved that game but the 9th game proved too much with Seppi getting 3BPs, Isner still almost came back and then lost it with a ball hitting the frame on his racquet.

Seppi and the Italian crowd were a delight though. Loved it, and loved the fact Seppi won cause he was obviously the better player today.

Next round Seppi get's Wawrinka or Tipsarevic and Seppi can beat both these guys with the crowd pushing him as much as they did today.

Ben fatto Andreas :) Great performance and a deserved win.

The atmosphere was very enjoyable! Think it may have effected Isner when he had a mid court forehand with Seppi at the net, should have gone through Andreas but was a little bit polite and lost the point.

In today's shape no way would Isner beat Tipsarevic or Wawrinka to get to Federer. Logically it should be Tipsarevic who meets Fed but Seppi get's a big boost from the crowd so now anything is possible.

Is he going to fall out of top10 after this?

If Simon gets past Ferrer he will, but I don't see that happening. What I meant was with a win today he could've secured a top 10 position, regardless of what Simon will do tomorrow.

How is Fish gonna get past Isner? He didn't even play in Madrid or this week in Rome.

Last week's points was with 1 extra ATP250 tournament pts because Rome was already dropped last week when Madrid was on. John has that extra tournament at 150 pts and Fish has like 35 pts. So this week, that extra tournament pts dropped, so Fish has higher base pt than John when Rome starts.

Wow, only the second time if Simon wins, that there will be no Americans in the top 10. Last was this time last year.

In a counter intuitive sort of way this only serves to make Isner all that more dangerous to the top players at RG. None of them aside from Rogi on an awful clay court has had the chance to surprise any one of them on a good day
