Stepanek played a lot better after he was able to recover from getting dirt in his eyes early in the match, which affected him through the first set. Wasn't a whole lot he had to do than play his normal game, and Chela had no answers. Chela looks in zero condition to defend his RG points and looks basically like trash on the court physically.

Radek played pretty decently in the final two sets, too many forehand errors, but he started returning better and using the net more. Good to see him get the win here.

This Match up was bad in any kind of way. Both should lose here! :(

Chela ranked #36 atm is a joke, I think ATP has forgotten a "1" in front of the numbers.

Worst match of the year. Chela should retire, he's so out of shape, Stepanek was very mediocre but he still was easily controlling the match, i don't think i've seen anyone played worse this year than Chela today

Well Chela was donating BPO's, of course Radek would probably take advantage, still another match with too many errors today, I guess it might have alot to do with conditions.

Chela 1-7 his last seven events.

No, I don't see him retiring anytime soon unless he's forced into it. He isn't healthy right now. He'll probably manage a SF or two in the small clay court tournaments after Wimbledon. He also consistently plays better in slams, so expect a win at the French at least, and a win in New York as well.

As a hard core JIC fan I expect him to retire at the end of the year if he doesn't win any decent matches.

He has a quarterfinal of Roland Garros to defend. :spit: He will go out of top 70 or worse if he loses early.

Difficult times coming up for J.I.C, that's for sure.
An Umag semifinal would help him a lot. :wavey:

Haha, I texted a friend during the match, telling him Chela would struggle against many players ranked around 137.

Chela hasn't been losing to bad players. Off the top of my head, I know he's played Dolgo, Dimitrov, Verdasco recently, Falla on a court that suits his game last week. And he's been competitive in the matches. And I just remember he played Istomin in Indian Wells. He's playing decent players and hasn't been able to defeat them.

Chela's back just can't handle the pace of the game of today's tennis. He is having major problems On serve hence the result...a few years ago he would've beaten The Worm... I expect him to retire after this season.

On paper, it doesn't look too bad. But on the livestream, it does.

What was wrong with Radek in the first set by the way? Was it only the clay in his eyes?

Dimi and Falla have been mugging it up this year.

Chela is just too bad this year, he seems to give up physically, while Steps after a dreadful 1st set upped his game, and looked much futter than Chela.

Yes, he looks like shit, Chela. He didn't play too badly last week until the third set. He doesn't seem to be able to last physically in matches.

The first set was basically yes, the clay in the eyes, Radek got flustered early with that, and then his game never returned. He was not attacking as he should the first set and made too many return and forehand errors.

What will be Chela's place in the rankings after the French Open if he loses there in the 1st round?
