Averagerer (but it's difficult to be GOATerer with the wind; he still managed to make it easy).

It was enough.

#2 if he wins tomorrow. And #20 Masters 1000.

Rhythmbreakerer didn't give Tispy a chance. He wins these matches with his experience.

Excellent tourney, Janko. Don't feel too down.

Tipsy was clueless in the wind, while Federer handled it masterfully. Took the foot of the gas at the end but was always winning this easy

I don't get this Caroline reference. Federer has actually won slams. Who cares if he hasn't won slams recently. Would be a slightly different story if he became #1 without winning slams, because he is merely getting #2 if he does win Madrid anyways which is honestly nothing different from #3. However, even if Federer reaches #1 without winning a slam title en route, it isn't all about slams now in terms of ranking.. Hell, just go complain to the ATP then that non-slam events should not count for points then.

Just too good. On fast courts like these Federer can continously take away your time and transition from defense into offense extremely quickly. Your only chance of beating him is continously going for your shots and when he's having a bad serving day.

Couldnt watch the match but looks like a routine job. I expected a tougher fight from Tipsy but the serving stats from Fed look impressive again.
Well done Roger, now win this thing tomorrow please! HOPP! :rocker2:

Federer was too good. His backhand was performing exceptionally well, especially considering how windy it was today. You could hear the wind screeching in the mic. Tipsy started playing better after being down a break in the second set, but it was too late. Federer's first serve was way too good. He lost zero points when his first serve went in during the first set, and only lost 2 points on his second serve, both of which were double faults. The one break point Tipsy had in the second set, Federer was kind of sloppy, but Tipsy was starting to fire too.

Technically, if Federer wins 1 slam, it should be enough to take the #1 ranking back considering how much Nole does need to defend until the US Open. After all, Federer can still make up a lot of ground in Rome/Canada/Cincinnati.

These young grinders raffle can't handle fast surfaces and are unable to adapt despite being in their Prime.
This reminds me of Paris 2010 fast surface nadull chickens out and Novak loses to llodra. These guys just can't deal with fast truly fast surfaces.

The only tense moment (when I woke up momentarily) was when Tipsy played two amazing points to get up 0-30 on Roger's service game midway through the second set. Apart from a couple of more good points from Tipsy Towards the end of the match, this was all roger.

Hoping for wind in the final. :D go roger! Take the title and #2. :hearts:

Makes you wonder if he was just being curteous when he said that slowing down of surfaces helped him too. If all tourneys played like this, the guy would loose, like, never.

Federer's performance in last nine tournaments...

Basel - Won (beat Nishikori)
Paris-Bercy - Won (beat Tsonga)
World Tour Finals - Won (beat Tsonga)
Doha - Semifinal (pulled out due to injury)
Australian Open - Semifinal (lost in four sets to Nadal)
Rotterdam - Won (beat Del Potro)
Dubai - Won (beat Murray)
Indian Wells - Won (beat Isner)
Miami - 3R (lost in three sets to Roddick)

He's won 6 out of the last 9 tournaments he's played (potentially 7 out of 10 if he wins tomorrow), and has only gone out once before the semifinal stage. I can't see him not regaining the #1 ranking if he carries on like this.

Fanatastic play by Fed. I can't seem him not winning Madrid. Tipsy couldn't deal with constant wrong footing by Fed which works here perfectly. When he figured out how to defend it, it was too late. Also weak 1st serve % by Janko helped Fed a lot.

At 3-1 in the first set, Fed got down 0-30 on his serve ( I think he hit 2 DFs  ). Fed played a shot close to the line for 15-30, and then Tipsy hit a ball out and shouted angrily, and it was 30 all. And then Tipsy looked like someone had punched him in the gut; he had such a dispirited look about him. He was mopey until the middle of the second set but by then it was too late.
