Gilles Muller played two events today !

First he lost in a Rome challenger final to Janowicz 6-7, 3-6 (match finished around 4 p.m.) ...

... and then he found his way to defeat Vasek Pospisil in qualification 1st round at Rome Masters 1000 6-1, 7-5 (match started around 6:30 p.m.)

:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

(and people - me too - said he is a claycourt mug)

haha good one
Pospisil though is weak on clay, and overall doing a poor year

it really takes something special out of the other guy to be breadsticked by gilles on any surface and especially so on clay

vasek double faulted 10 times and served only 47% first serve

he's really not ready for top 100 yet.

I remember Tsonga back in 2007 (I think) playing 2 events in one day, Queens' qualies and some grass challenger SF/F.
It's obvious Muller is going to have a Tsonga like career now.

Woah! The guy would get my respect if he didn't already have it for kicking out RN out of Wimbledon 2005 and then getting to a USO QF in 2006 when he was considering retirement due to lack of earnings.

he is. the fact that he beat vasek pospisil on clay proves just nothing.

But he also reached QF in Belgrade last week and today final at Rome challenger.

Too much above his standards :)

Tsonga played an incredible five matches in two days, winning all of them!

The day he played three matches:

d. Guccione 57 64 76(2) (Surbiton s)
d. Goodall 61 36 63 (Queens q1)
d. Rushby 61 61 (Queens q2)

I don't know the order of the matches, but it was unreal either way.

That match against Guccione was probably not as gruelling as a scoreline like that indicates though.

 Gilles wins two in one day! Obviously he tanked against Janowicz!

As for Vasek, well...he is still young. His time will come.

Bring on GOATller

haha wow, at least it was the same city

Same city, but opposite endings of a very big city. According to Google Maps (http://maps.google.de/maps?saddr=Via+delle+Capannelle,+217,+Roma,+Italia&daddr=Viale+delle+Olimpiadi,+61,+Roma,+Italia&hl=de&ll=41.888477,12.534027&spn=0.131626,0.338173&sll=41.882854,12.564926&sspn=0.131638,0.338173&geocode=FYeAfgIdfeC_ACnTjEi6zIklEzG-JecRIc2l5A%3BFZm-fwIdSBe-ACn_7fljlGAvEzF7pzIOMDv2ww&oq=Via+delle+Capannelle+217,&t=h&mra=ls&z=12) it was a 30-40 minutes drive by car.

I can imagine after he lost the first set tie-break against Janowicz he decided not to go for a third set because then he surely would not have made it in time.

Pospisil isn't that great a player. Which I said last year, and I got blasted for it. I'll say it again now, since the past weeks he's been playing at the ATP level, qualifying matches, and struggling mightily. He's overranked.

He is a claycourt mug. He just lost to Janowicz  And then he beat Pospisil...no offence but everybody can beat Pospisil on clay

He's not expected to do well on clay, he gave Delbonis a match last week and gave Muller a bit of a match, so by his standards that's decent clay play, you know how hard the masters qualies are.

he wasnt winning matches on hard court either

the fact is that yes, he is over ranked right now. He is not top 100 material at this point. He made it in on the strength of winning a rediculously weak challenger but done nothing since

I don't know the reason. Probably he was so tired.
However that's not bad decision for him.
Take a rest, Muller;)

Vasek is down the drain this year.

A quick look would say that, but I disagree actually. He has lost to 8 left-handed players this year while only beating 1 left handed player. He obviosuly is not having the year we would have hoped for, but over his entire career outside of futures events he has always struggled with left-handed players and this year he seems to be drawing more than his fair share.

Losses to RH players

G. Monfils
J. Tsonga
G. Rufin
B. Balleret
N. Mahut
E. Prodon

Losses to LH Players

A. Beck
C. Ball
R. Bemelmans
M. Zverev
R. Bemelmans
C. Ball
F. Del Bonis
