Not one of the best ideas, why bother

Add the scoreline and the tournament round please to the thread title please. ;)

Too bad on Wawa, he played great from the baseline in the first but his level dropped a little in the second and he had no serve to fall back on.

Nole played okay but he is beatable here.

Very good match, great quality I thought. Nole serving very well except for the 5*-2 game. If he keeps improving, he might very well defend his title here.

Good match for Wawrinka, but as usual when he faces top players he lacked that extra something to make an upset happen.

Nole's BP conversion has been weirdly atrocious for months now. Turned it on when he was signing the camera - Stan play well?

this court is a disgrace. When two of the best movers in the game cant move and hit the way they want you know something is wrong.Nole couldn't do shit today and still won.Rafa lost because this surface sucks

I feel for the players, but this new brand of skating tennis amuses me. More of this blue shit next year please. Wrong-footing gets such a big significance in this type of courts.

Speed of the court is perfect. No pushers left in the latest rounds. Glimpse of Djoker the barbarian in the 2nd set. I am sure he will pic up from here until the start of Roland Garros.

Feel sorry for Stan . Has too much of talent to be everybody's bitch. He has to regret for the first set. Nole had much more chances but Stan was better player in exchanges, just his ROS  . I mean, Nole was serving great but it looked like he was returning Raonic's serve, not Nole's . Shame for his carrier, always looked to me like better deal than overhyped Gasquet for example

I still think that Stan is playing much better these past few weeks. Maybe something good to come for Roland Garros

Rafa lost because this surface sucks

No. Rafa lost because he sucks on this surface, not the other way around. A surface cannot be judged on whether a particular player does well on it or not (otherwise I could just as easily say, "Federer beat Gasquet in straights! This surface is great!"). ;)

Nole served particularly well today and the fact that the scoreline was relatively close shows what a good effort Wawa put in despite that.

Novak. Dude. Start converting those BPs.

Also, if it were ever any doubt, then surely now it is certain that Novak is a confidence player. Once he got that opening set, his rhythm suddenly came back and he opened up and swung freely. But I changed the channel after the first couple of games (in the 2nd set) because the result was NID. Started watching the news and forgot the match was on  Turned it back as soon as Novak served for it.

Well you can't blame him for stepping up and filling the void as MTF was in such a frenzy over the Nadal loss I think everybody forgot this match was even on, but agreed, disgraceful effort, if you're gonna be the one to step up and start a post-match thread at least do it properly.

Novak doesn't need to move. He can hit winners against Mugerer from any position on the court.

What is this, comedy hour on MTF?

Since when does Djokovic hit winners from any position on the court?

R2: Djokovic: 20W-24UE, DGT: 30W-37UE
R3: Djokovic: 18W-18UE, Wawrinka: 27W-34UE

He won these matches by having a better Winner to UE ratio (-4) & (0) than his opponents (-7) & (-7). I sometimes wonder if Djokovic fans even watch his matches.

He can beat Federer but it won't be through hitting more winners, especially against an aggressive player like Federer. He would have to defend well and get another good winner to UE ratio. But lets first see if both make the SF.

Wow, I guess the frenzy of Nadal's loss had people forgetting this match was even on. There was more discussion on the missing stuff in the thread title than on the match itself.

Good enough match from Novak. He has to improve on BP conversion, but I hope he retains his service stats all the way through RG. He was serving SO WELL up until 5-2 in the 2nd, and he had several (I last counted 5) love hold service games. Stan played great too, did so much work to save set points in the first set, and did well to break Novak in the 2nd as well. Really good form from him.

yeh, he was being frivolous, but Djokovic certainly plays more aggressively and blasts a lot of winners when facing Federer, they almost always have very fast, offensive matches. He certainly has the ability - but usually opts (annoyingly) for the more passive route in early matches, though he struck a decent balance yesterday. Yes, he'll probably hit less winners than Fed, but normally it's actually quite close. It normally depends on who he's playing/if he's confident or feels good on court

There are two things about Wawrinka:

- the positive one: not too many players of his caliber (let's say 10-30 in the ranking) are able to play competitive matches with the best three players in the world like Wawrinka does
- the negative one: he plays very good, diversify technically sets against the best guys but in the end he loses them anyway (0-13 tie-break record combined )

Get your stats right before you post. Djokovic can hit the same amount of winners as federer when he feels he has to be more aggresive, at the end of the day it's his choice. But can he do it? Of course, he can blast winners from any position on the court as stated.

yep. this why I feel sorry for him. Has all the shots, plays beautiful tennis, against almost everybody looks competitive and at the end he loses every time. Would like to see him winning something bigger
