Delpo is too steady for Mugrin.

Gutless stuff from Mugrin, comically predictable at times. His utter lameness caused Del Potro to fall asleep for a bit, but nothing to fear with Mugrin here.

Del Potro is a conservative high-percentage ballbasher, hence he 'owns' the other big hitters because they go for lines too much.

It's as boring a matchup as Nadull moonballing to Fed's BH.

Good serving from Del Potro and really a very comfortable set. Still hasn't dropped a set during this clay season (Estoril and now Madrid), which is obviously a good sign.

As for Cilic, he must be disappointed. Yes, the match-up is terrible for him; but he played horribly. Didn't even force Del Potro to get out of third gear today. 42% first serves, errors all over the place. He must be disappointed.

Still, glad Cilic has had two good weeks overall, hope he builds on this and returns to where he belongs - the top 10.

Via two tiebreaks too. A freak result indeed.

Cilic and Delpo were in the same league until their match at the US Open '09. That match set up their different positions in the tennis hierarchy. I'm glad I didn't bother to watch today's encounter with a knowledge of their previous match in the Davis Cup :yeah:

How did this Cilic beat Isner?

He played better yesterday and Delpo is a far worse match-up for him than Isner.

and then will somebody ask why is Cilic so disliked. Delpo who is for somebody a ballbasher wasn't doing anything, he was standing 3 meters behind baseline and just keeping the ball in and other moron was missing left and right. When that moron got a chance to be back in the match he missed 6 BPs in the same game and got back to his missing habits. With all that this same moron was serving at his usual 40%. They say that the serve is the easiest shot to improve in tennis. Or they are wrong or Cilic is the dumbest moron on entire tour. With all that bigger question is how this guy actually has a fans ?

They were never in the same league. Del Potro's strokes have always been more powerful and consistent and he's always been stronger mentally.

Still, the difference isn't as big as the last few matches indicate. Cilic is much better than what's shown. I'm still hopeful that he will fulfill his potential and at least be a regular top 10 player. At the very least.

I am a fan of unforced errors. I appreciate a guy who expands his horizons beyond arbitrary lines drawn on a tennis court.

Edit: Also, do you notice how he arches his back each time he serves? Huge fan of that as well.

Cilic turned up totally asleep, error after error after error.

Second set tries to raise it a bit, has 6bps at 2-1, doesn't convert.

Next game, EIGHT errors to give away the break.

...and that's the match.

Del Potro was solid, but didn't really need to do very much.

Cilic is a mug get use to it Cilic was never better than Delpo and you know that. Cilic had a chance to be better than Delpo because delpo had a wrist injury but NO he still mugs around like an artificial dumbass, so you tell me is Cilic a dumbass and a moron or a coward in your eyes, i see nothing wrong with Delpo at all.

And please dont think that people are gonna believe that you are a Rogi fan, you are as fake as it comes closetedrafafan, dont make me laugh you stole this sigy from someone else.:haha: :haha:

Not exactly hard to beat Cilic on clay, but I'm very disappointed that Isner lost to this thing. At least Del Potro sent him out, where he belongs.

Del Potro will lose to the first top 3 player he faces, so him winning isn't bad. I'd rather him than Cilic.

Potro actually has a good chance to reach final here with the way Nadal is playing, can't see him winning the whole thing though.

I'd rather him face Nadal honestly. Having a great result in Madrid (Final or winning) is nice and all, but not a goal in itself. The goal is to be in the best possible condition for Roland Garros and a match against Nadal would be the ideal for him to see where he's at (with all due respect to Dolgopolov and Berdych).

That may be true, but I think a final or even winning (who knows) may gave him a great confidence boost, winning two tournaments in a row. A match against would have been good also, but the way Rafa was playing I doubt it would have been a good match to see where he's at: I think Del Potro would have maybe beaten him even (if Verdasco of all people can do it).

Yes there was that other moron who was on the tennis court playing a pro match missing left and right, and there is another moron who sits in front of his computer screen and laughs at him and mocks him on an internet board. Go figure.
