Easy opponent for Marin at the start in Madrid, nice he did not go mental after he lost the final in Munich. Montanes is ready for retirement it seems anyway...

Good win for Marin against an opponent who obviously would be motivated, but the first serve percentage in the second set will not get the job done going forward, at 37% first serves. He was easily winning his service games until the middle of the second set. Saved three BPs at *4-2 in the second set and four BPs the final game.

It wasn't an easy match at the end for Marin at all. The draw may be easy but he made things tough on himself with the bad serving.

Marin never plays/serve well on a cold or rainy day, as seen in Munich final and Madrid today. Rest of the week is sunny and dry so I expect him to pick up his first serve percentage.
