Should have been much easier, since he was dominant from the baseline, but GGL finally got the job done! Marcos' first serve percentage tanked to 38% in the third set and that cost him big time, because it was his serve that was keeping him in it. Baghdatis saved 7 BPs his first three service games of the third set. GGL was a set and break up and dominating, and then a linesman passed out. That seemed to shake him up, because he started making tons of errors from that point through most the rest of the match, made a lot of really poor errors to go from *1-0 15-0 to down 2-5 in the second set. He didn't serve that great the final two sets but he was still the one dictating the rallies throughout and that ultimately saw him through, as Marcos failed to handle the pressure placed upon him in the end.

Baghdatis' game has become ultra passive. He's not going anywhere playing like this.

Garcia Lopez had so many chances in third set, Baghdatis was twice down 15-40 and once 0-40 on his serve and still held, but eventually Garcia Lopez broke Baghdatis in the last game at 15*-40

:haha: this match. What a mugfest . Baghdatis was serving, playing mini tennis and moving like tractor, Lopez on the other side was missing mostly of the time. Only thing worth from this match was listening Godall and Koenig together again. EVen they were quiet most of the time, that how bad was this match

GGL deserved the win. He got to 15-40 in 4 separate Baghdatis service games in the third set and finally got the break in that 4th attempt.

Baghdatis was pretty much just pushing, but won a set because of GGL's error count in that second set. Had a break point of his own in the 3rd set, but sent a 1st serve return long.

Baghdatis was going for a bit more when behind in the second and third sets, he was hitting the ball deeper. But why does he insist on being a scrambler when he doesn't have the movement to play that style of play? It's so odd. He doesn't use his weapons.

actually hate faghdatis after this

he's pathetic nowadays... apologising after good shots, playing into his opponents hands, bending over in the last game, then smiling, and of course thanks god for another loss.

He was just being a good sport. I'd rather see that then him smashing racquets like he did at the AO.

His insistence to scramble and push is another story, but maybe he doesn't have the weapons anymore. He still hit a few nice backhands DTL, but the forehand didn't look very dangerous.

Baghdatis has played like this for over a year now. It's not a one match deal. This is what he's become, where he's more defender than counter-puncher. He only brings out his counter-punching in critical moments. It's a confidence issue, most likely.

Marcos :hug: But I'm not that upset because Guillermo needs the win more to completely secure the French Open main draw. Why is he ranked that low?

Anyway, I watched the last set and it was really tense. Garcia Lopez whippy forehand was  The blue clay makes a really screechy sound when the players slide on it (like a chalkboard).

Marcos' new hairstyle is weird.

Baghdatis has played like this for over a year now.

This is true. He got in better shape last year, in terms of loosing some weight, but his movement is not that much better. Not a smart style of play for him.

I know:rolleyes:. I liked the entertaining Baghdatis better. Well...he usually steps it up for Grand Slams. We'll see at FO

If I wasn't lazy I would've removed Baghdatis from my signature a long time ago, I actually hate the guy now.

Good for tennis. Fatdatis is an overrated garbage pusher.

If you saw the match, you would agree with me on this one. He deserved to lose with that type of display.

You need to learn a thing or 2 about how tennis works. The RG main draw list has been out for 3 weeks, and GGL is easily in
