Not a bad entry list, but there seems to be quite a bit of filler here.

What? There are qualifying rounds played at this event, right? How can there not be a list of players entered in the qualifying draw?

There are only qualy entry lists for Slams, Masters 1000 and ATP 500. This is a 250 tournament, here the players just sign on-site before the qualifying deadline ends around Friday night local time.

Del Potro, Fish and Murray are questionable, aren´t they ?

I can see Murray playing here, but don´t think the same about Del Potro, nor about Fish.

Gasquet is doubtful, too. His coach's twitter said his next tournament is Eastbourne.

Can a player (like Mannarino) play Qualies even though he has entered Nottingham 2 Challenger next week ???

I think so, Tsonga did play 2 tours on the same week around few years back.

A Serious answer

Because they have now made it into the Olympics (Young and Harrison)
and they lost first round in Paris

They want more time in the States before coming over for Wimbledon and the Olympics

Makes sense. Donald should have played here he could of possibly got 1 win lol!

He's not injured, just taking some rest and will start his grass court campaign at Eastbourne.

Tsonga did that in 2007 - I watched him play Sutton.
He won the Sutton Challenger and was in Queens Qualies at the same time.
BUT Sutton is in a suburb of London, and only 13miles from Queens in central London so it was practical (think he was taking taxis between the 2 places!).
Nottingham is 130miles away from Queens!!!
Mannarino can't possibly do both.

What rubbish. Would playing a grass court tournament as a warm-up for two big grass court tournaments not be the perfect preparation?

The rest of Queen's wild cards go to Jamie Baker, Liam Broady and Oliver Golding. Neil Harman just said that on twitter.

I have a question: You know David Goffin will reach to no.68 next week right? Will he still need to play Q draw?

Drikke

Goffin is 2nd alt with 2SE to be cleared, so he will be in directly

Metafizicar
06-07-2012, 04:16 PM
Good to see three Croats having a direct entry. Cilic should be in a good form here, Karlovic is finally where he wants to be after miserable claycourt season, and Dodig needs all the points he can get, he has been in a terrible form recently and the week after he is defending a lot of points in Hertogenbosch.

Not a waste at all. He's been pretty good this year in Futures, and he held his own against Lacko in Nottingham. IMO WCs are meant to garner some experience for young and talented players. It's a great shot for Golding.

If anything, the WC to Baker is more of a waste. He is not a big talent whatsoever and will never make it to the Top 100.

He's had a good year to be fair to him, much more deserving of a WC than Broady who has been awful since last year.

One Challenger SF and one QF.

Yes, he's had a good year for his standards and finds himself at a career high. But he really isn't a high-caliber player and needs a lucky draw in order to win a match. I do hope he proves me right, as I like both his game and his personality. But he is a lower-echelon journeyman.

Broady has been rather dreadful, but he has more potential than Baker. Therefore he stands more to gain from the WC. I do think a QWC would have been better, but I don't think he is less deserving than Baker.

Sad thing is Karol Beck isn´t on alternate list as he would be now 1st alternate, playing Nottingham next week instead.

He should win title there.

probably he wants a week more rest before qualies at wimbledon. If he does play queens/halle he would have played 12-13 matches in 4 weeks before starting at wimbledon if he qualifies.

yeah but i think it would be preferable to have some sort of match practice on grass before he goes to wimbledon qualies.
