wouldn't a Hewitt vs. Ferrero final be wonderful...with Juanqui winning of course! :D

Juanqui has an interesting draw. George Bastl, Pete's conqueror at Wimbledon, awaits in the 2nd round. Taylor Dent in the 16's, Lapentti in the quarters, and maybe even his compatriot Alex Corretja in the Semis! Blake is a bit of a question cuz he just withdrew from Hong Kong with an injury...

A Hewitt Ferrero matchup would be wonderful :D

But I'll try not to get too far ahead of myself ;)

Me too. An encore of a spanish final will be much better. But having said that, watching JC beating Hewitt will be such a pleasure.

i'm glad that he has a 1st round bye, so if he's tired out from this long week in HK, he at least has an extra day or two to rest. :)

the identity of Juanqui's 2nd round opponent is now known. he'll face Magnus Norman, a former French Open Finalist, who took out Bastl 6-3, 6-0 in his 1st round. Norman could be a tricky opponent, but he has been struggling in his comeback from injury and Ferrero should take him out in straights...if it ever stops raining in Tokyo!

Maybe the rain is a good sign. I mean, it rained last week and Juan Carlos ended up dropping only one set  Perhaps the gods are looking favorably on him ;)

Has James Blake's opponent won through yet?

Leo7
10-01-2002, 10:57 PM
no, the Verkerk/Vacek match hasn't been played yet.

yes, the rain is a good sign. Juanqui must win Tokyo now! :)

Okay, let's be calm. I hope he's not getting too upset at himself for losing. Now, isn't it a good thing that he entered Vienna next week.

Chloe le Bopper

On the bright side, this is a superb win for Norman - who despite his ranking IS a good player, and who I like - his best win since umm....... umm..... someone help me out here ;)

I think thinking around the end of 2000 somewhere before his surgery ;) But maybe he did something last year that i'm forgetting ;)

Vera

Stop smiling Rebecca:(

Well, okay. In fact, I like Norman too. I've been rooting for him to do well in every tournament he entered since coming back. But not this one since he's facing JC. He could have beaten other top 10 player in other tournament. But now that JC is gone, may Magnus win it all (since there's no more top players on his side as Blake also out, so why not). Strange though, I had a feeling that JC will lose this one, maybe since Alex and Carlos also lost. Now, they can catch the same flight to Vienna.:D

BTW, I just peeked at Lleyton's forum, they posted some great pics of Lleyton in the sponsor party or something, JC is in it. He looks so cool. Go check it out if you haven't already. I don't feel like stealing them and posting over here, and have no clue where they found those.

I hope Juan wins next tourny, he is a great player, but I am a very happy camper, since Magnus is my top three favourite player, and he needs this win! As rebecca said, it has been a while!
You all know that Juan will win again
Magnus beat Dent 6-3 6-2, yay

well Lindsay's straight set win today eases the pain a little. with Venus out, this is Davenport's tourney! the only players that can stop her are Mauresmo and maybe Bovina.

GO LINZI! :bounce:
