Is Roddick actually going to play here? On his website it doesn't have Rome listed under his schedule.

Well it is a mandatory event, so unless he's injured, he's playing.

players withdraw very often from mandatory events without any injury if they choose to : I guess they just send a wrong health certificate.

However, if Roddick plays Madrid and is in Europe, I don't know why he would miss Roma

I really dont get why he wouldn't play Rome he has reached the Semifinals before with a win over Tommy Robredo. His has definitely the ability to get some wins at the very least and earn some points. He could enter the top 20 if he get enough points. Which is doable.

I presume Cipo will get a WC :)

I wouldn't be so sure. There are usually a lot of politics involved with the WCs. Wouldn't be a surprise to see Nalbandian (if he fails to make the MD) or another foreign player get a WC. Fognini is the only Italian assured of getting one, IMO.

Flavio is a Roman. He got a WC last year, but is in much better form this year. I think he'll get one.

Good point, Martijn. But that means Simone will likely be forced to qualify, and since I'm sure he won't, I would be so devastated! :crying2:

I really hope Fabio can sneak in with his ranking. Because the Cipolla WC actually is realistic. And then Poto would probably get one, and Filippo. Simone would probably be the odd-man out. I hope all of them are in the MD. Especially if Simone goes deep next week in the Roma challenger.

Any news on the WC for MD?

Fognini, Starace and Volandri are pretty sure.

The fourth WC between Cipolla, Bolelli and maybe Giannessi.

Giannessi is an injured mess, unfortunately. And Simone really doesn't deserve one. I'll be gobsmacked if Flavio doesn't get it

He has been back training, his participation is still questionable as he wants to be fit when he returns.
