What has happened to photos? The last tournament they covered was the WTA China Open, last month, whereas before that, they were fairly frequent in their coverage.

My thoughts are it has something to do with it being the indoor season, they may not get great photo results, but does anyone know any reasons for sure?

they don't cover that many tourneys to begin with. From my understanding, it's just a married couple who does it and they're based out of Florida, and traveling to these tournaments abroad is quite expensive. I don't remember them covering much outside the US (or even very much out of south florida!) last year...

if they arent using dslr cameras (then light would be a problem)

I don't think they had any plans for tournaments after China this year. In fact, I was a bit surprised to see them even go there. Decent people though, they let me use their photos on my site, and they take good pics.

Cool... expensive hobby they got going there: travel, accommo, equip, domain.
Committed fans, credit to them.

I met Jeff at China Open and interviewed him :)
Debstah you are right, they are an old couple. Both already retired and now they take tennis pics mainly because they are interested in it.
Manuela has been a photographer for a long time, while Jeff took up photographing about serveral years ago (after he retired).
They go to some nearby tournaments, and some big tournaments. Sometimes they are invited to go to other tournaments too. Jeff was invited by somebody from the Luxion company (they're good friends) to China Open. He has never been here so he was quite excited. He said the people of China were much more interesting than the tennis matches, lol, he took tons of pics at Beijing.
BTW Jeff uses DSLR.
