Sorry I haven't been around to post, but I wanted to respond to those crying "foul!" on the Madrid bimbos. Some thought, oh no! Just what Marat needs! A distraction to make him lose! All along I was thinking, "Great! A distraction that will make him win!"

With Marat's personality, this is the kind of thing, that will help him relax, have fun, and most importantly, win. Remember the blondes of 2002 Australia? Some thought it was a dumb publicity stunt, but hey, would he have gotten past Sampras again, without that distraction? Although he didn't win the whole thing, the bimbos got him to the finals.

And it has happened again, just as I thought.

So now, let's round up some bimbos for Paris, Houston and Australia

Let's introduce Paris to Marat, since she's swung to tennis guys

Maybe he is more consciously controling his head on court in that case. But still it's a totally different story to hang out with Paris.

I don't want to see Marat going down to that way. :(

I would think that if any guy was playing with beautiful girls watching, he would want to impress them rather than play badly and lose.

I guess Marat wasn't distratced by the models, TF. ;) But perhaps he was inspired by them! :D :woohoo: Congrats to Safin on winning Madrid and on ending the year on a high note. :)

Paris!!! No way !!!! :fiery:
I thought you were a  but you 're a :devil:TF ;)

Anyway you probably right about thoses blonds and their implants...They seem to inspire him :o

Q. What do you feel about the ball girls?

MARAT SAFIN: Great. For the people, like they have no clue about tennis, they're doing really, really good job. They know how to catch the balls. They're behaving well. They bring you the towels. So it's kind of nice. They are really doing a great job. You have to give them credit.

Q. You'd like to see more of it?

MARAT SAFIN: It gives you extra motivation.

extra motivation?? :o

Q. Just carrying on about the girls coming on, it's been said that part of the reason why we need ball girls, model ball girls, is because the game lacks enough quality or charisma amongst the male players, and we need something else on the side of the court to make it exciting. What is your opinion on that?

MARAT SAFIN: First of all, I think it's a good idea. You know that it has been around the world for all the week. Everybody is discussing all these things about the girls, like we treat the women the way they should not be treated. But it doesn't matter. Good publicity, bad publicity, they're still talking about tennis. It looks like tennis players are not exciting for the spectators. Every time I put CNN, every time they go, the first and fourth seed, withdraw from the tournament, the first seed Tim Henman lost to Ljubicic, like whatever, Agassi won, Safin won, that's it. So it's already a negative way of thinking about tennis, especially is not in a position -- is not in great position right now, tennis. So at least some excitement for tennis bringing out the girls. First of all, they get paid, so already it's a good job for them. And it's some excitement just for the people. Every time they show them on TV, the people from the stands, they like it. So it's kind of entertainment.

Q. Did Gerard run the idea past you first?

MARAT SAFIN: Yes. I thought it was great. This was really great idea. I'm totally just with this idea.

  It was Gerard's idea...(Ilhame will not be very happy with that ;))....Gerard is the tournament organizer and Marat's manager...

I don't like Gerards idea and don't like him, but he gets away with it this time ;)

I'm not surprised though that he talked to Marat about this idea :o

Ahem. They are models. That doesn't necessarily make them bimbos.

Well, just let it be noted that I don't appreciate or have any respect for that use of wording. It's demeaning. Good looking women who happen to model for a living don't deserve to be considered "bimbos" unless they have done something to indicate that they are.

I think that modelling looks boring and don't think they had any place in this tournament, but you won't see me going around insulting models themselves.

 I wasn't insulting them by calling them "bimbos". At least that wasn't my intent.

It may not have been your intent, but "bimbo" in insulting. When it's used to describe women who are physically attractive without having any other knowledge of them, one could argue that it's also sexist. Whether the intent was there doesn't really matter.

Sexist language bothers me. It's nothing personal.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, if it had been male models for the girls, I'd call them the same thing.

Kudos to Becca for standing up for the models in Madrid! :worship: And Becca has a pertinent point. And that's it's unfair to judge a person on physical appearances without knowing them.

Do you think I insulted them when I called the blondes from AO 2002 "The bimbos and their implants" :help:

tennischick

i have no problem with the insults that were hurled at Nipple Chick and the rest of the Safinettes that were on full display in his player's box. but i agree with Becca that we have no evidence that the women in Madrid were bimbos. perhaps some of them are -- but so far none of the players have kissed and told. ;)

Well, they weren't hired for their great balltaking skills. They represented T&A, and probably the sales of Hugo Boss products has just increased 100 fold in the last week.

Who knows??...Maybe the blondes were very respectable girls ;)

TF you sexist??

I agree with Becca...we can't judge a person from appearances (sometimes I do...nobody's perfect)...but I think TF was not only talking about the models...but Marat's taste for bimbos...and how they can give him extra motivation :o
