looks like it's going to be a fight between henman and agassi for that last stop

Daniel

so the last 4 are: Coria, Safin, Moya and Henman?

i think Nalbandian is going strong for a place at Cup, though he is going to have to do the almost impossible - win Basel and reach at least the final of Paris. Why does Henman always have it so hard?!!! He is on the verge of qualifying but yet all his followers with chances to get there too keep on winning with him!!!

Joachim is getting close too :)

But JJ will only get an alternate spot, unless someone withdraws.

Further more... Henman and Agassi are in the same quarter at Paris, so one of them can't get more than 25 pts...

how and when will alternates be determined?

nitsansh
10-30-2004, 04:41 PM
the player in 9th place (or 8th if Gaudio is outside the top 8) will be the alternate at Houston. IIRC, he should recieve 50000$ without hitting a ball.

According to my calculation, Safin need just one win in Paris to book his place in Houston. Henman will guaranty his place if he gets to the QF. If one of them fails to do so, Coria will qualify.

Also... if Safin loses 2nd round in Paris, and Henman lose 2nd or 3rd round, Agassi will qualify if he wins the final at Stockholm and gets to the semi in Paris. If Safin or Henman or both avoid early exit, Agassi should get to the final at Paris (thus overtaking Coria and also eliminating Nalbandian).

Nalbandian will surely qualify if he wins at Paris (no matter if he win or lose the final at Basel). He may also qualify if he wins in Basel and gets to the final at Paris, with some "help" from his rivals. In that case, 2 of the 3 players above him should lose early: Safin in 2nd round, Henman in 2nd or 3rd, or Agassi before SF (or lose final in Stockholm).

Daniel

will andre qualify if he wins on Sunday?

~EMiLiTA~
10-31-2004, 10:03 AM
so there will only be 1 alternate?

nitsansh
10-31-2004, 02:35 PM
There is one alternate on site in Houston, who is ready to replace any player who withdraw during the tournament.

Between one and 3 qualifiers will be determined after the 2nd round in Paris.
If Safin wins, he qualifies.
If he loses, Coria qualifies.
If Henman loses, Coria and Safin both qualify.
If both Agassi and Nalbandian lose, Coria, Safin and Henman all qualify.

As usual things often get decided in tennis due to injury. Coria, Safin Henman are in because Andre & Nalbandian withdrew.

1st Federer, R. 1117

2nd Roddick, A. 656

3rd Hewitt, L. 613

4th Moya, C. 484

5th Coria, G. 480

6th Safin, M. 472

7th Henman, T. 458

& Gaudio also as a Slam winner in the top 20.

Hey Mattress Mac, you have to deal with all these non-Americans Ha Ha Ha ...

I bet that Agassi will play in Houston after all.

I bet that Agassi will play in Houston after all.

So you are assuming that either Coria or Federer will not participate due to their respective injuries?

nitsansh

If any of the 8 qualifyers withdraw before the tournament or during the group stage, Agassi will play.

Safin gets closer to Hewitt and Roddick, and could get to #2 if he wins at Houston and Andy or Lleyton don't get to final.
