Songs whose meaning you don't understand?

Ever listened to a song whose lyrics you understand, but you sense that there's an underlying subtext that you're not getting? This is the thread for posting such songs (youtube clips are good) and asking others for opinions on what they mean.

I was wondering if the abundance of forum Serbs could help me with two songs:

Gusta mi magla padnala, more,
na toj mi ravno Kosovo.

Nista se zivo ne vidi, more,
do jedno drvo visoko.

Pod njeg mi sedi terzije, more,
ono mi sije jelece.

Kol'ko su zvezde na nebo, more,
tol'ko su sarke na njega

Oj, golube, moj golube
oj, golube, moj golube
ne padaj mi na maline
goro zelena
ne padaj mi na maline
ruzo, rumena

Kad maline zrele budu
kad maline zrele budu
i same ce opadati
goro zelena
i same ce opadati
ruzo, rumena

Kao suze devojacke
kao suze devojacke
devojacke i momacke
goro zelena
devojacke i momacke
ruzo, rumena

Music is art for art's sake, you don't have to understand the words to understand it. That's why I prefer completely instrumental music.

I guess you'd prefer Brahms to Wagner, no?

I'm sorry, I do not like conducted music. I respect it, it can be very beautiful. But my heart lies with improvised music, I do not mean exclusively jazz. But free jazz is one of my favorite genres in music. Like Peter Brötzmann, Han Bennink. Keith Jarrett and Pat Metheny are also all time favorites.

The Beatles since Sgt Pepper had many songs with really weird lyrics. Done during acid trips no doubt.

Not sure I'll be of any help, but the 1st song is very old, and it's played on weddings. It's hard to tell the meaning of traditional songs.

I totally understand what you are trying to say. There is this song, and i don't know why it is in my computer, my iPod and even my cell. I don't listen to it and the reason is exactly the same. I understand the lyrics but i have no idea what is the meaning of that song. It is more like directing towards a ridiculous song.

Here, you guys also take a preview.

Well, in that one the words don't mean anything. They are just there to add to the music -- like using the voice as another instrument. It's just vocal percussion -- they found some words that rhyme and repeat them rhythmically. Like Kid Rock's Ba Wit Da Ba chorus.

Thanks. I knew it was played at weddings but still have no idea what it's supposed to mean.

Oh well, just one of those mysterious kinds of songs...
