Marseille F: JM Del Potro routines Mika Llodra 6-4 6-4

Solid from Delpo, great serving especially in the first set. Didn't face bps and only one game went to deuce. Mika as usual had great touch at the net but also a few loose serving games.

First title since Estoril last year, only a 250 but he had a tougher field than Raonic in Memphis.

Del Potro doing his best Nadal impression. I'm no longer a fan.

Llodra just never adapted to the modern gamesmanship. The last samurai is dead, gunned down by some oaf with a musket.

What a shame. Delpo had a little luck with some challenges and letcords, but was the better player and deserved the victory.

Still a bad result though.

I'm a bit disappointed with Mika today, but I guess there was not much to be done with Delpo serving like that. Still a good week though :)

Great JM Delpo. Finally another title. Only 250 yes, but this Marseille was one great event, besides defeating LLodra-FRA indoors- always dangerous guy, he defeated here Tsonga- Tsonga indoors in FRA is big victory. So deserving champion here in MArseille and if i am correct Delpo will make it again one step higher- No.9 in rankings on Monday.

Congrats to JMDP, a runner-up and a title winner within two weeks' time, what a nice confidence boost that should be for the upcoming IW/Miami for him! :hatoff:

Llodra  - never really had a chance and got pissed off with JMDP taking his sweet time at challenging which didn't help him at all (as usual). Mika should know by now that modern time-umps will never do anything about that...
Anyways, good tournament for him too.

D-pot moved into the power vacuum left by Soderling and had two excellent weeks in Rotterdam and Marseilles. Final and a title is a good result. Smart move by him to play in Europe and not go down to Argentina or something crazy. It paid off and is a good confidence booster for the rest of the season

It was like 10 seconds.

It was still too long and I think he looked at Davin too. It rattles the opponent to think his shot is in for 10-15 seconds and then he has to go back and replay the point, especially with a second serve. He needs to work on that behavior, and I say this as a huuuuuuge DelPo fangirl.

Still, congrats DelPo! Great week for you in Marseille. Now pull out of Dubai and get your butt in CA to get ready for IW!!!

It was a pretty long time, but had nothing to do with the result of the match.

Pretty entertaining match, Mika was displaying some excellent touch at the net but made some errors at critical points. But that was to be expected, he had to take risks and go for his shots.

I just called him out for overstating stuff. Nothing much, really. At the end of the day it is up to the umpire deciding whether the challenge is allowed

Well done, DelPo. Hopefully this title gives him the confidence to go deep in Dubai (by that I mean beat JWT and lose to Rogie, of course ;)). He is definitely tied for my 2nd favourite in the top 10 right now together with JWT.

This post like an endangered, if not extinct, species on MTF. Actual objectivity from a huge fan. I am impressed.

Not sure I can be as objective about Fed although I'm trying. I wonder if we'll ever see the Nole-, Nadull- and Rafoletards of this world do the same. Fat chance.

d-pot means nothing by it. the guy is just slightly deliberate. nothing more.

his entire demeanor is being on the cool side. he works at being calm and deliberate.

and the ultimate responsibility is with those chair umpires anyway.

i dont have a problem with it. he is just trying to be calm. everybody is different.

was it ok for NoDjok to take 31-40 seconds in between points at the australian open? again, NoDjok is just trying to calm himself down so he can focus better on the next point. that is how he gets ready for points.

it is entirely up to the chair umpire as to how much time he wants to allow these players.

the point: they all have their own various peculiarities/idiosyncracies. and for the most part, they play within the rules.
