Agassi edges out Robredo 6-7 6-3 6-2

Andre Agassi had to dig deep against an inspired Tommy Robredo to win. Robredo had 6 break points on Agassi's serve at 1-1 in the 2nd and could not convert. From there it was Agassi all the way. Robredo backhand was outstanding though, standing up well to the Agassi barrage. Bring on Safin!

good job Andre :bigclap: but I guess he had more problems than I had expected him to have...

If Agassi didn't make those painful errors in the tiebreak, he would have won in straights. Ughhhhhh I just hope he has enough energy to payback Safin for his Aussie loss. :)

You can see Marat as a semi-spaniard so there might be some hope ;)

Agassi won as expected, but it seems Tommy made him work hard for it.

it was a great match the first 2 sets but once agassi broke in the 1st game of last set, the writing was on the wall. tommy played unbelievably well in the first set and a bit. he was up 4 it. but fatiuge set in i s'pose. david beckham was there, as was fernando torres. andre was not impressed with the models once again...!

hope marat wins now, cos that would be some semi final!

Tommy, :smooch::drool::kiss: you are so work hard to save the ball and play some incredible backhand especially in first set, although you lost,I am sure you will be better and better in the future, come on!!! :rocker::yeah::tennis:

congrats Andre! :worship:

congrats to Tommy also; honestly I didn't expect him to give Andre so much trouble. :clap2:

Yeah Tommy played amazing in the first set, best i've ever seen him play.

He looked totally exhausted midway through the 2nd set, he had to run so much, that i'm not surprised Agassi won so easily in the end.

Andre wasn't happy at the models again  Madrid website says "Agassi had time even to get mad with one of the models" :haha: :haha:

Well Done Andre :D

Not stop getting annoyed with the models though

Robredo has finally stopped trying to hit a forehand on every shot while his backhand is just as good :)

Tommy  It reminded me of the match Tommy played against Coria in Hamburg. He played an amazing first set that day but faded in the end, but it was a good performance :)

In the first set I thought Andre left his brains in Steffi's box

But all credit to him for tightening his game and stepping it up. :bounce: :bounce:

I am now eagerly anticipating his match tomorrow versus Safin :D
