yeah Stebe was the other guy in my mind, he hasn't really done a whole lot at the ATP level yet though

i think raonic will make his mark in 2012. what is his rank right now? is it #35?

he could sneak into top 20 if he can do well at some of the masters events.

Stebe or maybe even James Duckworth if he picks things up quickly. He showed real talent in Brisbane, I think (maybe it was Auckland?).

Denis Kudla, Benjamin Mitchell, James Duckworth, Tsung-Hua Yang, Yuichi Sugita, Javier Marti, Yevgeny Donskoy and Andrey Kuznetsov are my names to take that shield.

I'm not entirely sure who would be considered a "newcomer". My pick is that the Canadians will keep that title two years in a row with Vasek Pospisil.

ETA: looking at that list... Fabrice Santoro was newcomer of the year in 1990? Wow!

Hm. Fed, Djoker and Murray were never newcomers of their respective breakthrough years.

My guess would be whoever rapidly rose out of nowhere, like Milos did last year.

Let's see.. Marti is beginning to impress. Pospisil should be rising this year but has struggled of late. Then there's Del Bonis, Elias, Goffin and a whole bunch of other 21 year olds.

Stebe

I don't think anyone  Maybe Dimitrov and Harrison can finally start winning, but they are not newcomers.

Goffin if he stays healthy. Or Paire if his brain gets healthy.

James Duckworth, Stebe, Dimitrov, Olivetti, Goffin respectively according talents, results will determine the final election

Tomic is not liked here. The only award Tomic deserves is most annoying player 0f 2012.

Paire or Del Bonis.

Paire, at this current moment. He's a true newcomer and he has the potential to make major runs on clay in Europe. He's also ranked top 100. Stebe is also there, and when he gets on clay, I expect him to do much better than he has thus far this year.
