Does anyone know what happened with Raonic that is not playing and has been replaced by Dancevic against Tsonga?

like I said in the Davis Cup thread in the Canada forum, the Doubles Decision of putting Milos in to play with Nestor is becoming more and more of a joke.

A fresher Raonic wouldn't have the same problem with his knee.

A straight sets doubles match shouldn't be that difficult on the body, I don't see why is that a problem, unless he already had problems after the first match?

So bad, it would be a good game I think

They must have known his knee was not perfectly fine, as he's been wearing bandage around it for a while. Though I thought it was due to niggling pains or just for precaution. *sigh*

This is getting to be a bad trend in Milos' career. Getting hurt in a less physical doubles match doesn't bode well.

Ouch. That really sucks. I guess it takes a little pressure off Pospisil.

DAMMIT!!! Was really looking forward to this one .

Poor Milos, but I suppose health comes first. At least we can count on Jo winning his 4th rubber for sure now.

it sounds like it was sometying that wasnt super serious but he just wanted to avoid playing as a precaution. the commentator even said that the davis cup squad themselves were surprised. hmm what if theres some politics going on within the team after the coaches decision to play raonic in doubles instead of pospisil.

i still think canada had a decent shot if raonic played, he could have upset tsonga and popsisil is good enough to beat bennetau or a not 100% monfils.

Surely you don't pull out of a Davis Cup match as a precaution! I'm sure he knows how much the Canadian fans care about him, how much they were looking forward to seeing him play and how disppointed they will be. There must be something seriously wrong with his knee. Otherwise he would play. I had never seen the Canadians so excited about Davis Cup before.

I hope he gets better soon. I hate injuries.

There's no chance they could win from the beginning. Plus, the captain talked too much.

agreed, but i thought the commentator was saying something like he was out last year for 4 months and he doesnt want something like that after he has had such a great start to the season. dancevic is really doing well tho so far, fighting hard.

Laurendeau is an idiot. Raonic had some knee issues while training in Toronto even before going into the first match. Save him for the 2 singles matches.
Instead, let's take a guy with some knee trouble, put him in doubles where he's not familiar, and make his knee start and stop a whole bunch for 2+ hours.

He said he's going there to see Stanford doctors and re-evaluate his injury. I would be surprised if he played next week (or any time soon).

If it's serious enough to drop out of this match, it's certainly serious enough to drop out of a 250 event.

He has time to re-evaluate. I don't think he's scheduled to play until Wednesday. He can't play best-of-5 today.

But he's defending the full 250 points. I think he'll try and play and try to win a match or 2.

If there's something wrong with his knee (and there definitely seems to be), he's not going to be playing at all. Long-term health comes before points.

Yes, he did win San Jose in 2011 over Verdasco, but he lost the 2011 Memphis F to Roddick, lol yeah Roddick.

I'm disappointed Pospisil and Monfils are playing the dead rubber. Llodra and Nestor should be appointed to cheer the crowd with an unusual match these days of two serve-and-volley left-handers :o

But Roddick didn't taked that easy. 7-6(7) 6-7(11) 7-5 to Roddick.

they're not gonna let the hometown boy sit this one out. Vasek probably wants to redeem himself and put on a better showing than Day 1 anyway.

I'm amused by how this tie was supposed to turn based on Monfils' knee issue and it turns out that Raonic's knee actually became the deciding factor.

It wouldn't have been a good match. The match up would be awful. Learn your tennis. Hire out a couple of old matches between different styled players and watch. If you need to, i'll wire you money to do this. I'm very well off in terms of money. Actually i'm filthy rich.

Anyway Big servers vs bad returners are never good matches.

Use that money to buy a brain Brentos. Looks like you really need one.

As for Raonic, i just hope it isn´t serious. The circuit needs his game.

Pospisil was probably not going to win his single, then Canada had to make Raonic play the double to have a hope.

He was good in this double, it was a very good doubles match, and a tight one.

Canada's double surely could have won this, then Raonic could beat Tsonga.

They lost the double, Canada now had very little chance, and Raonic was painful : even if it was not that bad (which has still to be confirmed), the decision to withdraw is understandable.

Raonic will not play the exhibition doubles match but he will go to San Jose and see if he can play. His first match wouldn't be until Wednesday anyways, so he has some time to see if his knee gets better.

If it's an inflammation type of injury, a few days off might be enough for it to subside

Are you serious?? Raonic was anything but good in the double missing easy volleys (might as well staying back) and easy returns (same for Nestor though).
Heck, even his 1st serve % was low, clearly don't know how to play double.

That's my opinion, I'm totally serious.

Guy Forget, French Davis cup captain, and former doubles world number 1, said that this double match was a very good match and that he was delighted watching it :

OK for Raonic's and the Canadians' serve, not for the rest
