Solid from Monaco, didn't look like losing, just didn't make too many errors. Picasso started poorly and wasn't able to get into any kind of rhythm and the compression socks aren't a great look.

I still don't get it how picking clay was a good move by Germany

Expected, worst move of the century to play this on clay.

Why not choose grass or a fast hard Court, something thats to fast for Pony, that was the only goal of us to eliminate him...

It was a good choice. Delpo decided not to play here because this was played on clay. I don´t see Argentina losing on hard with David and Delpo on court.

Even if they were thinking Delpo was going to play, clay is a bad choice. Delpo is not bad at all in clay. His worst surface is probably grass.

Maybe a grass court would have been better

for some reason we never choose grass, although it would be a great choice, just look at the halle results every year. rumours say that kühnen does not have the full right to choose, it is rather that he is given some locations from which he selects the best and halle is not among them because it is too expensive to play davis cup there...

court choice with that kind of line-up for both teams is looking very stupid now, of course.

well, i'm rooting for argentina anyway :D

Pretty much, del Potro and Nalbandian aren't clay clowns, indoor grass is very expensive to lay.

Pico was way too solid. Good match from him. Petz couldn't find any form or rhythm.

Yep, the court choice was very silly. Grass would have been a much better option with Petz, Kohli, Haas... Flo isn't too comfortable on it though.

very frustrating to see that financial reasons are more important than winning the tie (if the rumours are true). but i can understand it, this weekend we reached a new low with this being the first tie for many years not to be televised in germany...

great confidence buster for Picasso . You have to put a hell of effort to lose indoor match in straight sets against Monaco

Shocking, I am watching it on a betting site.

Expected, Home team generally means advantage over surface... nice example are USA-ESP- i can´t remember - it must be many years, but all the time when ESP away is not playing on clay and USA away always are forced to play on clay, and GER is going to play ARG on clay... probably one of best clay-courters in the world, btw Delpo is great on clay. Really best possible surface for DE was grass, but it is not easy probably to install grass - they must choose good location like AUS choose against SWI.

Mayer is excellent on grass.

Petzschnerr or Kohli would be great choice on grass too, i think they are last Halle finalist, Germany has a lot of good players, but really nobody is top player, and ARG on clay is unbeatable with only good players and 0 top players, HC is neutral surface here, but most likely Delpo would play and ARG will win easily so grass was only option here, where Delpo sucks and Germany has surprisingly few good grass-court players.
