Would be an easy title for Federer although also mean another loss for Delpo.

Lol, why does he need rest? Switzerland-Rotterdam is a short travel and he probably only plays on Wednesday evening in Rotterdam.
Besides, he had 2 weeks of rest between AO and DC.

Nonsense argument, unless he plays 2 5-setters of 4 hours in DC. But he won't.

Why are people voting Federer?

He still hasn't recovered from that soul-crushing defeat at the AO to Nadal. Remember it took Murray something like 8 MONTHS to recover from his epic loss at the AO last year. Federer loss was even worse, so it is easy to see Roger going into a Murray-like slum this year until after the USO.

Also haven't people considered the fact Roger will be completely exhausted after the Davis Cup best of 5 sets? Imagine 2 -6 hour 5 set matches against Isner AND Fish and old-man Federer legs will give out.

I could see Fed going out early this time.

Yeah, I remember it well. Definitely a humiliating result, but ultimately quite satisfying because it finally allowed SodKing to take his first Master's.

Weird tournament in general, actually. Llodra had a fairy-tale run, knocking out Djokovic and nearly making it to the final; he blew an open court volley on his MP and Soderling managed to come back.

This. Apart from him getting busy with what seems to be some kind of a 'farewell tour' this year, appearing at tournaments where he didn't bother to show up for quite a couple of years.
His commitment to play the South American tour in the late fall/winter this year also points in that direction.

Should, yeah. But DelPotro and Berdych, among others, might well be able to do him some damage, if not more than that.

Well Fed lucked out not getting Del Po on his side so he should really be a lock for the final at least (could Dolgo spring a surprise? I doubt it on indoor HC.) But Del Po/Berdych in the final could do damage - Berdych with his record in recent years over Fed, & his form so far this year, would have a great shot actually...

Is Novak the only top 4 player in Dubai then? Guess he'll be defending that easily then... Fed would have been the underdog but still had a shot at least.

I'd rather Fed lose to Mahut than Youzhny. That would be terrible for tennis if he loses to Youzhny.

Rogie is 2-0 vs. Mahut (2006 W 3rd round 6-3 7-6(2)6-4 and 2008 IW 3rd round 6-1 6-1).

Rogie is 11-0 vs. Youzhny and only ever dropped 3 sets (6-4, 7-5, 7-6, all tight sets).

Either one would be terrible considering he's a combined 13-0 against them and also, Youzhny is 1-0 vs. Kunitsyn, but should Kunitsyn advance to the 2nd round and face Rogie, although it's 0-0, he's not going to upset Rogie. I don't see Rogie losing before the F honestly, but could he lose in the SF or even the QF, possibly, but I fully expect a Rogie-Berdych F (Del Potro is the dark horse here).

Juan Ma Del Pony

The final will be Federer vs the winner of the Berdych/Pony semifinal. Any one of those guys is capable of taking the title at that point. However, I give a slight edge to the Berdych/Pony SF winner over Roger after what happened against Isner in DC.

Watch out for Dolgopolov, as well. He might take a set off Rog although I don't know if he has what it takes yet to beat Rog.

Is it only me or did you also think this 2012 Rotterdam is much slower than 2011? I was thinking Delpo has no chance, but with the way courts play here, he has chance, i mean fast indoors is too much for him, but this indoor can suit his game.
