I can't say I'm a huge fan now, but I used to be. I have seen only one of her shows. I have a lot of respect for her, her career is inspiring and she is truly a global pop icon.

So now, after her Superbowl HT show, I'm again full of admiration for her.

There is also the matter of that new song. How many great songs does she have? I know she usually has a knack for getting hooked with the right people at the right time, but still, she keeps on releasing great tracks on a regular basis.

Proof: two of her latest singles:

This is just shocking. A Madonna appreciation thread. No offense but the woman is so overrated it is not even funny. No wonder I listen to the likes of the Who, U2, Queen, Def leppard, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Madonna has led the fight against good music over the years. She is responsible for the emergence of the likes of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

Used to be a a fan but she's not a cougar anymore, like in the 00s. Now she's a granny, trying hard to being a teenager .. singing a Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez-like tune is

Never the best singer, but really a hard worker. And yes, some of her videos are just soft porn, but there are plenty of them that are pure art. And The music, c'mon. She has great songs. I particularly enjoy her ballads/slow tempo songs: Frozen, i'll remember, this used to be my playground, live to tell.

:spit: U2 and Def Leppard??? Funny stuff. Madonna has more quality singles than U2. Sure, she did not produce release Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby, but she has aged a lot better than U2, who have produced crap since Achtung.

and Def Leppard... in the same sentence as The Beatles and the Stones? DL are not even close to be in the same league as Madonna.

6 outstanding albums? Hahaha. You are such a delusional fangirl.

You also have terrible tastes in music (Lena) and movies (Avatar), so your opinion does not really matter when discussing either of these topics.

And Madonna has more great songs than MJ, it is not even close.

Of course she has. That's why she is more famous, more successful and her songs get played all the time in clubs.

Aren't you getting sick of your own bullshit?

BigJohn
02-08-2012, 12:31 AM
More famous, one would have to say they are about equal.

More successful? Surely no one could debate that since she has been going on for decades, while your "man" was relevant for a generous 5 years as a solo artist.

Her songs are being played in clubs, a lot more than MJ's that is for sure.

That is no secret for anyone...

Anyways, be on topic or butt out! :)

Someone advised me to stay away from this thread. I might just do that. I'm old fashioned. I like proper musicians you know. The likes of Guns N Roses, Metallica and AC/DC are just so talented. I mean when these guys start playing you just have to bow down :worship:. These guys write and play their own music. There is none of that sampling :bs: that goes on these days. I was not putting U2 and Def Leppard up there with the gods of rock but they are very good bands. As far as I know the only things Madonna is good at are weight training, toy boy hunting, bad acting and self promotion. Yes U2 and Def Leppard have not made a decent album in ages but at least they have made wonderful timeless music along the way. The same is true for R.E.M who recently split.

She reached global superstar status with album #2 (84), achieved widespread critical recognition with album #3 (86), and released her 3 best albums between 1999 and 2005. 2008, she launched the highest grossing tour by a solo artist.

I sort of never had an opinion on Madonna either way . She doesn't score very higly on the musical talent part, for sure, but she's a very smart artist and one of the greatest performers today, without a doubt.
The only song of hers that I like, and this one I really love, is Frozen. That video is amazing, one of my all-time favourites. :worship:.

I was giving examples of reasons why he is a legend. My first point is me being kind of a smart ass, but is is true that being taken by a drug overdose is the fate of many Rock&Roll legends.

Must be kind of weird in the Rock&Roll pantheon: all the dead legends screaming Sex! Drugs! R&R!, with MJ screaming back (respectively): With Little Boys! To help you sleep because people are mean! I'm bad, Come on!

But enough about MJ. Start a MJ fan thread to celebrate your admiration for freaks into boning little boys if you must express yourself. This is about Madonna.

Many thanks.

Gorgeous melody, intelligent, intriguing, confronting lyrics... :worship:

"Maybe someday
When I look back, I'll be able to say,
You didn't mean to be cruel -

being an oddie and with an old stone age brain, and not very into music but i prefer singers with good voice and sing songs with good rhytums over those who became popular mostly because of controversial behaviour or exagerrating costume and I guess she was the creator of the latter group so I am not fond of her, just my opinion, not mean to spoil the thread though.
