Should the number of seeds in a Grand Slam be reduced to 16??

I think it would spice things up, and make the ranking more important.

That would be great. In the past it used to be like that an made things much more difficult as there were a lot of dangerous floaters brushing aside seeded players in early rounds. Actually the earlier rounds were more interesting as they are now but with the system of 32 seeded players the risk of having some seeded players beated in the first rounds was reduced.

Yes. Early rounds are too predictable/boring.

4 seeds could be enough

Definitely yes - more interesting draws.

Cut it to 8.

I agree. The early rounds and first week of the slams which were the highlight for me in years gone by (6-7 years ago) are now boring. Reduce them!

I don't think so...what is the point of having, for example,Federer vs. Raonic in the first round???

make it 19 just to keep them on their toes.

Competition? Entertainment?

I'd settle for them not rigging draws to be honest :)

If they are good enough, you will have it in latter stages of the tournament...also,some 16 to 32 players(Raonic,Nishikori,Baghdatis) attract more people from their countries to come and follow their progress day by day...until they meet some higher ranked opponents!

I'm all for 16 seeds being reinstituted. Protecting 25% of the draw is WAY out of line.

That is an interesting idea, does anybody know precisely when only seeding 16 players stopped??

This makes a slam win slightly more impressive then.
