Do you think Nadal's BH wide @ 4-2 30:15 in final set will taint his career ?

Nadal had Djokovic at net and could of driven a bus into the space that was provided for the winner down the line to go 40-15 up. He was serving will a lot of pace at this point and would have gone 5-2 up, and then won.

Do you think the miss will taint Rafael Nadals career?

lol no
he lost this match before start, so that certain point has nothing to do with his career.

big moment, but even if he won the point there is no certainty of winning the match, but yes it was a big miss on a big point

It was a daft shot to make at a crucial time but even then would have taken him to 40-15 so we really don't know what would have happened next and we never will. That one shot will not taint his career. What might slightly take the shine off him will be if he never finds the answer to Novak but we will know that when he retires.

Taint is the wrong word I think but it was certainly a massive and inexplicable miss that probably cost him the match.

he choked. when the the moment was right there to be seized, he shit in his shorts.

bottom line: yes nole hung in there long enough because he knew that nadal was going to choke sooner or later but this was clearly a gift that a nadal of old would have never made it happen. he gifted the match to nole when he failed to hold serve after securing the advantage of 4-2 in the final.

all he had to take is take care of his serve and then he has 2 chances to seal the deal. and all the pressure would have been on the other side of the net.

nadal the merciful. nole will just keep on taking those gifts as he should.

A defining moment, sure, but one of many. This match is an all time epic, a classic, one that will go down as one of the greatest ever.

But to say it taints his career? It is too early to tell.

Yup, Nole blew his chances there, and also in TB he was up and wasted chances as well, he gifted the fifth in the first place :)

If the ball was on the line, would anyone have commented on it? Yet it's just out and suddenly, it's a massive choke? When you play with very fine margins sometimes you lose out. That's just tennis.

If something that happened today will taint Rafa's career, it was the loss itself, not a single point.

How many routine backhand errors did Nadal make that match? It feels like hundreds. And Nole broke back many many times in the match, even when Rafa was up game points, so I don't think it was very important.

4-2 and 40-15 would have made things even worse for Djokovic. Just figure out Djokovic serving 2-5 in the fifth and running out of energy: I don`t think that Djokovic would had comeback of that score.

Djokovic had 3 mini-match points at 4-3 40-0 and a 5-3 lead in the breaker, so I suppose he was closer than Nadal ever was in this match.

Yes and he also chunked an overhead into the bottom of the net at 6-5 30-15 which could have been a bigger miss (2 match points).

I don't think it affects anything. Tennis players have bad short term memories.

If he had achieved nothing before this, and nothing after, then perhaps. As it stands, Nadal has had far too many glorious moments, achievements, and victories in his career to be defined by this unforced error. It may be something he reflects upon however as he contemplates losing to Djokovic for the 7th consecutive time.

Nadal isn't Dinara Safina or Caroline Wozniacki.

It sucks and i'm sure he probably will think about it the next couple of days, but in a few weeks time it won't matter and I doubt he'll think about it again, let alone let it phase him.

Djoko should have won in 4, Nadal got so lucky. He handed the break away in the 5th as well.Plus, he should be punished for not being able to hit a winner if his life depended on it. Hilarious how half dead Djoko still schooled refreshed Dull. Look at the BP chances for Novak that he missed. He should have won much easier. He choked the 4th so many times and the bt he was leading before handing it over.

Now Novak choking at RG 2013, US open 2013 and countless other times? That has clearly hurt his career.

Why do Nadaltards even want to take this match from Djokovic.
Djokovic was the far superior player in that match , and Nadal was actually far more clutch.
Nole should have won it in 4.
Let me remind you
Total serve points won: Djokovic 66%, Nadal 59%
Total Return points won: Djokovic 40%, Nadal 33%
Total Points won: Djokovic:193, Nadal: 176
If Nadal would have been able to steel this match while being the inferior player the whole match, this would have been a big injustice.

How can a moment like that taint your career when you've won 14 GS? It's probably a moment at which Nadal looks back with disappointment, sure, but no way it's career tainting. His career would only become tainted if he all of a sudden would start misbehaving on court, start using forbidden substances, etc.
