Gagsquet 01-29-2012, 01:40 PM What a choker this Nadal. He lost all his finals. AHAH mental midget Fujee 01-29-2012, 01:40 PM Beyond insane. HUGE respect to both. But my god, WHERE does that energy come from. 7 finals lost, including 3 slams - huge mental advantage forever more. Insane. Superlatives fail me. Both players peaked and troughed. Nole better overall, deserved win. Unbelievable. Har-Tru 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Nadal was as mentally weak in this match as I've ever seen him. Djokovic is clearly on top of him at the moment. castle007 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM I can't believe Nole won this battle. Unbelievable!! 6 freaking hours on court You are the number one player, no doubt!! But if if both guys keep playing like this for the next 2 years, they will both retire by 28. Much respect for both players. Dmitry Verdasco 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Rafa didn't even play that well and took it to 5 sets and 6 hours :spit: Nole's celebration was weird. That's why you'll never get respect like Roger and Rafa. Seemed like the crucial turning point. Nadal even fist pumped the shot thinking it was a winner. syc23 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Epic. mbest 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Amazing. I had tears at the end. Ash86 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Amazing from both. GUTTING loss for Rafa. Absolutely gutting. He was so close. I think this was his Wimbledon 2008 and I'm not sure he can come back... He was serving first. Had 4-2, 30-15 lead. Should have taken advantage of Novak's tiredness. For me as a Rafa fan perhaps the most gutting loss ever. To go for 5h30 and then lose?! I can't take it. rickcastle 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Amazing  Djokovic really gains my respect being so clutch in here and the Murray match. HeretiC 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM First set, Djokovic playing just like he played Nadal couple of years ago, not trying to grind the points, conserving energy and trying to shorten them as much as possible. But the slower footwork cause him to mistime most of his shots, producing uncharacteristic errors. After few errors on his most lethal weapons this tournament (down the liners) from both wings, he sort of abandoned them, BH DTL was going to the middle of the court, FH DTL replaced by a FH CC. Despite that erratic play he managed to get his nose in front 5-4 and then decided to play safe again, which alowed Nadal to take the set. Nadal started strong, he noticed that he is again a favorite in long rallies, unlike in 2011, but as the set progressed, seeing that even with that kind of play Djokovic still stays close to him, the doubt slowly started to plant in his mind. He tried playing close to the baseline and all of a sudden he found himself unable to respond to Djokovic depth on the shots, he was forced to go back and got exposed on angled cross-courts. Luckily for him, Djokovic decided to play safe at the end of the set which allowed Nadal to reestablish himself and take the set. Second set, Djokovic back to controlled aggression, still with not much of an authority on down the liners, but they got better at times and more close to the lines. Early break and kept the lead, even had a set point for a double break and 2 set points when he served for the set. And all of a sudden, a bit of a choke, few bad shot selections and a DF allowed Nadal to get back in the set. But all in vain, Djokovic ROS was too strong and intimidating for Nadal and he DF to surrender the set. Third set: continuation from the previous, Djokovic stronger and stronger, unpredictability whether it will be a CC or DTL back in his game with excellent execution rate, Nadal pushed way back behind the baseline and only thing that was for sure on his racquet was a body serve in a deuce court, which proved to be extremely successful during the course of the match. Nadal completely overpowered and outplayed and almost at full mercy from Novak's errors. Fourth set: Nadal trying his best to claw back to be a competitive in rallies, but at this point he has been dragged around the court for 2 and a half sets and he ran probably as twice as Djokovic but he did not stopped even for a second. He tried to be agressive and get closer to the baseline, but his extreme western grip on the forehand can't handle the depth and he is forced to either hit too early most likely resulting in an error or a short reply or go back behind the baseline and therefore he unleashed few stunning forehands out of desperation. Djokovic way too relaxed, slightly slowing down, but his serving improved in the past 2 sets quite enough to hold on his service games quite comfortably and waiting for errors and opportunities on Rafa's service games. Exceptional points from Nadal to save himself in the 8th game from *0:40. Few momentum shifts in the TB exchanging mini breaks and Nadal steals the sets with a mini choke from Djokovic at *5:3 putting a short barely over the net retrieved shot from Rafa. Fifth set: Nadal starting to serve first looked like a big advantage, also with a momentum on his side. Djokovic failed to bring intensity in the last 2 sets while he had an advantage in the rallies, something which Nadal had plenty of it and this match looked over. And then came the break back from Djokovic in the middle of the set. He simply refused to surrender and with the last adrenalin surge broke Nadal again at 5:5. Then the drama stroked again. From 30:0 to break point for Nadal, but still managed to close the deal. What a win this was!!! They both escaped from the brink of the certain defeat few times during the course of this match. Still, can't escape the feeling that this would have been one sided affair if Djokovic was fresher. It will be interesting to see what kind of an impact this match will have on their next meetings. P.S I will remember this slam up there with the worst when it comes to line judging in the the past 30 years. Sorry for the long post.:o selyoink 01-29-2012, 01:41 PM Epic stuff from Djokovic. Especially considering Nadal was up a break in the fifth. But like Federer I expect he'll eventually get over it and come back better and stronger than before. This match shows how ridiculously retarded guys are on MTF. Very few gave Nadal a chance, and he showed he can swing it back and forth with Djokovic. If it weren't for the terrible choke, Nadal would have won it. But Djokovic was mentally the tough of the two at the end, and much like he ousted Federer 2x at the U.S. Open, he did it again to Nadal here in Australia. Congratulations. I look forward to Roland Garros. Kind Regards. nobama 01-29-2012, 01:43 PM Dedicated to Chris Fowler and the entire ESPN crew. :worship: Rafaspin 01-29-2012, 01:43 PM Leave the tardism out. People will point to the fuck up at 4-2 in the fifth but I suppose Novak fucked up the fourth set a bit too. Two legends of the sport. I think that though we have a clear top 4 we also have a clear top 2 now. Regardless of Murray semi final, these two are a class above. Orka_n 01-29-2012, 01:45 PM The first 2 sets were pretty poor but the tennis got better as the match went on. Well played, Novak. Very well played. Nadal fought hard as he always does and it looked like he would turn it around there for a while but it wasn't to be. Both guys left nothing out there tonight. vojomocart 01-29-2012, 01:46 PM Suspence all the way through...... Kudos to Djoko for the self confidence ,especially at 2:4 in the 5th. As for Rafa, that open court BH down the line at 4:2, probably decided everything. From this perspective the 16 Roger won are looking very, very far at the moment. Quality wise, my point of view probably the worst final ( with lowest quality) since Johanson's win in 2002! mystic ice cube 01-29-2012, 01:46 PM Incredible fight from both men. One of the best matches I've ever seen. Nadal played much more aggressive but I thought he tightened up on the big points and a little bit too passive. Mental fortitude in the end though, and hilarious celebration. Nidhogg 01-29-2012, 01:47 PM Ridiculous. This sport has taken a crazy route. A near six hour grind which was more a battle of wills than a tennis match. One hell of a captivating spectacle, though. Hian-GOAT 01-29-2012, 01:47 PM Fuck yes :hysteric: Nole, THANK YOU! BArsonlyone 01-29-2012, 01:49 PM The most amazing match ever. I thought Rafa/Roger 2008 wimbledon was the best, but in my opinion, this one overtakes that. Unbelievable. MaratandMilos 01-29-2012, 01:49 PM Just incredible. What an epic win by Novak Djokovic. One of the best tennis matches I've ever seen. Novak has come so far from just a few years ago. He just out-willed the greatest fighter in the sport's history. And in the process, he's become one of tennis' greats as well. This sets up one of the best tennis seasons in history if we can expect matches like this from these two. Very much looking forward to Roland Garros now. Can't shake the feeling Nadal would've had this if he didn't miss that easy shot at 30-15, 4-2 in the final set. What a battle though, fantastic. Lopez 01-29-2012, 01:50 PM I screamed so hard. What a performance from both players but especially Nole. Rafa had him in the ropes with the break up in the fifth and he comes back, saves break point in his last service game and finishes with a winner. As a Grand Slam performance this was great. Two consecutive 5-set wins over the world number four and number two, each mach lasting over 5 hours. And only 1 day rest in between. Better performance than Nadal's at the AO 2009 IMO. One last thing: NOLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! :worship: Farenhajt 01-29-2012, 01:51 PM One Nole to Rule Them All. History keeps being made. Not gonna happen very soon. romismak 01-29-2012, 01:51 PM Really Nadal played fantastic whole event, serving better than last year, agressive than before and still can´t beat Novak, who was expected to lost in 5 sets and have some allergic issues here in Australia, how he mentioned. nobama 01-29-2012, 01:52 PM Court way to slow. Became like a clay match especially since both were afraid of the net. Djokovic had to win many points 2-3 extra times. The drama however was excellent. Shame about the time wasting though. Seems like Djokovic was the true spartan all along. 7-0 and counting Every court is like that these days. Fed/Roddick went 16-14 in the 5th but was still under 5 hours. Of course those guys don't take forever between points and don't bounce the ball umpteen times before each serve. Renalicious 01-29-2012, 01:52 PM For all you thinking that this was better than Wimbledon 2008, I suggest you watch that match again. Wimbledon 2008 is a level of epicness that will be never touched again. Geo 01-29-2012, 01:52 PM Just pure respect for both guys :bigclap: :worship:  These 2 are by far the best athletes tennis has ever seen. The way they were able to run each other ragged like that for 5 long sets is incredible. Big props to Djokovic for recovering from his numerous chokes during the match, and also being able to play for this long after that insane semifinal  :yeah: My only complaint is that while the long grinding rallies are a testament to the great display of athleticism, Djokovic and Nadal really should start coming into net more for the sake of their bodies. Too many times in this match we saw both guys with a chance to come in on a weaker shot, but they retreated from the forecourt or stayed back at the baseline. The top 2 guys on tour need to add that to their game if they want to be around for years to come. If not, I'm afraid their bodies will break down eventually. EddieNero 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM I wish Federer had the half of Nadal's fighting spirit. philosophicalarf 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM Disgusting farce. Sorry, I mean "great heart". Because of course it's totally natural for players to sprint around like Olympians after 6hrs, having played an almost equally brutal 5hr match 2 days earlier. Nadal of course is now just receiving what he's being doing to the tour for years, so no sympathy there. MatchFederer 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM I do not understanding Djokovic's endurance.. You were also apparently blind to numerous instances of bad luck which he had to endure due to his often perfect play; hitting the lines and getting duff calls. anon57 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM :lol:Thank God someone brought them chairs, the players look like zombies samanosuke 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM Database error doing to me worse things than Nole is doing to Nadal . fucking nightmare timafi 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM how does Novak's ass taste now Rafa:tape: GSMnadal 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM How can Rafa come up with this speech... just start crying please  rinnegan 01-29-2012, 01:54 PM http://l.yimg.com/j/assets/p/sp/getty/9b/fullj.0543228d1b7f2ff68f55d0edc5952cc8/0543228d1b7f2ff68f55d0edc5952cc8-getty-137882680.jpg BAMF :worship: tests 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM Good for the game, tennis saved. Fakervic should have won in four sets but Nadull fighted very hard to earn the fourth set and was close in the fifth so congratulations to him. agreed. tennis won today Luinir 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM Nadal simply choked that fifth set. Unreal miss on passing backhand. yesh222 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM This guy is a huge favorite to win 4 Slams in a row now. Only Federer can stop him at the French, I think. dabeast 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM Djoker the Kingmaker :yeah: I don't doubt his will but man what fight he put up to stem Nadal's best. Djoker 1.6 was enough today. Well done to the World's best player. Tough luck Nadal, stay away from chairs, they're deadly. Renalicious 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM Good speech by Rafa. SheepleBuster 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM I am fucking disappointed. Why does Roger cry and Rafa does not. Something wrong with this man. Gustavo Kuerten 01-29-2012, 01:55 PM Haha, fucking great match. Excellent stuff. tests 01-29-2012, 01:56 PM Nole has defeated nadal in 3 straight grand slam finals, three different surfaces. The domination is almost complete... all he needs to do is defeat nadal in the french open final and his complete domination of nadal will be complete. Federer, you learning brah? atennisfan 01-29-2012, 01:56 PM This was tennis as much as it was physical duel/gladiator/marathon/whatever.. I agree with many posters: SPEED UP THE COURTS!!!!!!! I never want to see matches like this EVER again. They have to do something about the courts/rackets/techniques. OK, here we go all over again. First of all, hi to all :wavey: For those who don't know me, I am Samanosuke . My less favorite player is Nadal and we usually make a good parties when the pig got roasted, even better when he loses a slam final, and when he loses it on the way like he lost it just few minutes ago we are returning a belief in people's hearts for people who don't like it can just SUKIT because good things must to be done Made my day :yippee: I see the MTF clowns are out in full force today. It's funny, not one surprising name in the lot. I don't understand how a tennis fan could not appreciate today's match, but I guess most of them aren't tennis fans to begin with. Amazing tennis from Novak Djokovic today and amazing tennis from Rafael Nadal today. This looks like it could be a good year for tennis. I propose the mods to ban all the hate posts in this thread. He doesnt need to cry, of course he is disappointed still he doesnt have to cry, you can tell hes disappointed, but hes a great champion and he knows that Nole was too good at the end and he gives him credit Ash86 01-29-2012, 01:59 PM CLASS from Rafa in that speech!! Let's compare that to "God it's killing me". This was one of his most gutting losses and he did amazingly well. Think he'll take the right motivation out of this even if Nole will now be gunning hard for the Nole slam at the French Open. Think Rafa will be better at the French this year than last though - he's motivated too. This match has made my respect and admiration for Rafa rise higher, if that was possible. All credit to Nole too - what a champion he is too. munZe konZa 01-29-2012, 01:59 PM I guess you didn't watch the match. AMazing victory, but please give one slam to Rogerlio this year ok guys :D ps: the celebrations were a tad much Nole, Rafa fought his heart out afterall Nathaliia 01-29-2012, 02:01 PM Did he make his overruled calls in favour of Rafa because he was a fan or did he try to awake sports anger in Nole and motivate him for better play? How do you think? CookiePower 01-29-2012, 02:01 PM Rafa didn't even play that well and took it to 5 sets and 6 hours :spit: And he still couldn't beat an exhausted, 25% Novak Djokovic who has played over 10 hours of tennis in 3 days. But there's not much you can do when you're a mediocre pusher like Nadal :superlol: Nole's celebration was weird. That's why you'll never get respect like Roger and Rafa. The 3 R's. He was 4-2 down but kept believing and eventually won. But it must be hard on rafa, since he really had the momentum and should have won in the 5th. The gap is closing and if rafa keeps working on his backhand, he can eventually win against djoko. hat__boy 01-29-2012, 02:02 PM Well, not missing the easiest put away ever when up 4-2 30-15 would help, as would not basically giving two sets away. Nothing more to say. Well said :yeah: An absolute epic. Shirogane 01-29-2012, 02:05 PM First set, Djokovic playing just like he played Nadal couple of years ago, not trying to grind the points, conserving energy and trying to shorten them as much as possible. Sorry for the long post.:oDon't be. Great summary, especially since I had decided to wake up an hour late. :worship: cardio 01-29-2012, 02:05 PM This loss will hurt more so than a 4 set loss. In fact , It was Djoko who choked away 3 breakpoints in a row at 5-5 in 4th set, then choked away 5-3 lead on his serve in tiebreaker being only 2 points away from title. He did well to keep fighting after such a disaster and to came back from break down in 5th. And you can say whatever about Federer and his mental block vs Nadull, but Fed NEVER lost 7 finals in row to his biggest rival, and never will in his pre-retirement years. It is just PATHETIC and embarrassing. Novak is inside Nadal's head. Nadal can't find answers to beat Novak, he tried today, and came with the same result. Sunset of Age 01-29-2012, 02:10 PM Wow, just WOW. Kudos to both players for great battle. :worship: But doesn't this match show that beyond any doubt it's now HIGH TIME TO SPEED UP THE HC COURTS??? Six hours for a match on so-called HC, "you cannot be serious!" The first set saw Rafa being in complete controll as it appeared that Djoko hadn't yet found his full stride, 2nd and 3rd sets the match turned around, but after Djoko messed up his break chances at 4-3* 0-40 and consequetively also lost the TB having been up 5-3 in the 4rth, I'll be the first to admit that I didn't give a penny for his chances in the 5th set anymore. And at first it looked like I'd be right, Djoko seemed to be fully out of gas in the first couple of games and Rafa looked to be the fitter of the two, as well as having the momentum. However, the longer the guys went into the 5th set, Rafa's fitness appeared not to be endless either, looking more and more gassed himself as well. And where Djoko suddenly managed to find some extra batteries is anyone's guess, but he did, much to my massive surprise. Never believed Djoko would manage to out-grind Rafa in a best of five, longest final ever, but well, he did. This loss must be a massive blow for Rafa... - but I trust he will be able to come back - fix the BH, and fix the 2nd serve. Easier said than done, good luck with that Rafa! Djoko - yep, he IS on his way becoming a genuine legend, nothing more to say than a well-meant CONGRATS to him and his fans. :hatoff: Oh, and can someone please FIRE all of those lines gimps? That was about the worst line judging I've seen in decades, and rather strange to see a big majority of those terrible calls going against Djokovic. Embarrassing, really. StatRacket 01-29-2012, 02:10 PM This match almost killed me. If I was 50 years older I would've surely had a heart attack. Rafa's comeback from 3*-4 0*-40 in the 4th was unreal. Djokovic clearly had the edge in return of serve and neutral rallies. The only way Nadal was going to win was by clutchness and perhaps taking advantage of Djokovic's fatigue. And he almost did, winning the two close sets and going 67% on break points compared to 35%. sidneythagovou 01-29-2012, 02:11 PM Really Nadal played fantastic whole event, serving better than last year, agressive than before and still can´t beat Novak, who was expected to lost in 5 sets and have some allergic issues here in Australia, how he mentioned. there was nothing wrong with djoko. They both were fit as hell and yes djoko played a 5 set match and had a dag less to recover, but he showed he didnt need an extra day of rest. He wasnt tired for most of the match and allergic? No way lol. 2 of the fittest guys played a gruelling match and Djokovic is on his way to become a great great legend stripes 01-29-2012, 02:11 PM Rafa I was so hoping  I really do not like djokovic he so arrogant and that collapse so dramatic, ohh well tennis won today because of the match it was really good but I lost because Djokovic won  The question is can nadal recover from this? alter ego 01-29-2012, 02:12 PM So true. More and more trolls in MTF. Trolls are way better than bitter nadaltards like snowyy that can't accept their man lost. I for one don't make a fool out of myself whem I'm sad about a match Fed played. hisham70 01-29-2012, 02:12 PM This match was epic, very close, with many unbelievable moments, but sadly, in three months, everyone will forget how hard was for Nole to beat Nadal this time. All people will talk is how Nadal easily lost to Nole 8 times in a row. Certinfy 01-29-2012, 02:12 PM This week we've had 6 matches between top 10 players I believe and there wasn't one that wasn't exactly great in one way or another. What a year of tennis we have ahead of us. :worship: Libertango 01-29-2012, 02:12 PM I had to go out at the start of the fifth, and came back just in time to see the end. What's the backhand everyone is talking about? What happened at 4-2? Yves. 01-29-2012, 02:12 PM So much respect for both guys! tealeaves 01-29-2012, 02:13 PM Is this match going to be put on AO Vault? A rewatch is a must chewy 01-29-2012, 02:13 PM A HUGE thanks to Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic and everyone else involved in this event for an entertaining Australian Open finale. I'm not the biggest fan of either player but they've earn so much respect, an amazing match. Definitely a grand slam final that I will remember for along time. The perfect start to the season for Novak. Congrats! And Nadal came so close, I hope the best for him in 2012. nadejda 01-29-2012, 02:14 PM awful era - disgusting slow court and heavy balls... 6 hours? Jeez... philosophicalarf 01-29-2012, 02:14 PM I had to go out at the start of the fifth, and came back just in time to see the end. What's the backhand everyone is talking about? What happened at 4-2? Nadal *30-15, short ball, open court at the net with Djokovic out of it, the title beckons.... Oh wait, he clowns it wide, and of course is broken straight after. Was hilariously awful. Very un-Nadal like, but so was doublefaulting away the 2nd set. Djokovic is completely in his head. Javi 01-29-2012, 02:14 PM It's embarrasing and cringeworthy to read so much shit after a true classic match like this. Haters, please do us a favor and get a life! :wavey: NadalPhan 01-29-2012, 02:15 PM  you are such a tool. I'm praising Federer here tbh. I honestly do think he would be absolutely unstoppable if he had this "never say die" attitude these 2 guys have. I'm saying this because talent wise, this guy is without a doubt the GOAT. alter ego 01-29-2012, 02:15 PM I had to go out at the start of the fifth, and came back just in time to see the end. What's the backhand everyone is talking about? What happened at 4-2? Djokovic came to the net hit a very poor volley. Nadull missed the eassiest passing shot I ever saw. By that time Djokovic seemed out of the match. Kworb 01-29-2012, 02:16 PM Boring and predictable, ugly tennis. As usual. Too bad one of them had to win. Oh well, at least it was better than the women's final. Gagsquet 01-29-2012, 02:16 PM Life sucks. What the fuck, my fav is an all-time loser, yours made all finals and got 10 slams. Relativize dude. Time Violation 01-29-2012, 02:17 PM So many wasted chances for Nole, had to take this in 4 max, would be completely devastating if he lost :) Kudos to Rafa, but a big eff u to his tards (not fans!), they are all gracious now, but if Rafa won it would've been another story. Warm regards, 7-0 :wavey: Trih 01-29-2012, 02:17 PM From a Roger & Nole fan.. Epic match between two amazing players. Kudos to both of them. Just THANKS for this. :worship: ImmzB 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM WOW!!! Rafa!! He had his chance when he was a break in the 5th at *4-2, 30-15 but when missed the BH. BUT massive credit to Djokovic though, both players fought very hard! Certinfy 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM What the fuck, my fav is an all-time loser, yours made all finals and got 10 slams. Relativize dude. Glad you finally admit it. tripwires 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM What the fuck, my fav is an all-time loser, yours made all finals and got 10 slams. Relativize dude. I felt that way when Roger lost the SF. SerenaFederer 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM I guess you didn't watch the match. Nadal almost won it and is about the only player that is competition to Nole at this time. what about the one who actually beat him in slam and had mps in the other slam match  nole :worship: awesome rafa....back to the drawing board Hewitt =Legend 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM No matter what you think of these two guys, that was one of the most entertaining and dramatic matches of all time. Without a shadow of a doubt. Can't convey my thoughts into words right now so I will just do this: :worship: Cheers guys. Vanjezi 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM Respect to both tennizen 01-29-2012, 02:18 PM Just unreal. Was thinking one of them would die on court. Just too big from both but bigger from Nole. No words really. Fedex 01-29-2012, 02:19 PM Incredible match. Just incredible effort by both players. Hats off to both; neither player deserved to lose. ballbasher101 01-29-2012, 02:19 PM Will Federer donate another major to Nadal by taking out Nole this year? It could happen. tektonac 01-29-2012, 02:19 PM surreal match. kia guy was just :haha: wtf did he say? Andi-M 01-29-2012, 02:19 PM Well Novak is certainly collecting his jar of hearts...First Andy's and all his fans on Friday and now Rafa's for the 3rd slam in a row. Words cannot express how wonderful a competitor both these 2 fantastic players are. what a great grandslam final 6 hours and I loved every minute of it. a massive congratulations to Nole he deserved the win and the no 1 ranking he is taking competeting to another level. Right On 01-29-2012, 02:19 PM Djoker missed many chances today, he's the better player and that was especially clear in second and third set where Nadal just didn't have an answer. But Djoker let him back in and that's never a good idea with Nadal. Still 0-7 it is now and counting. Linesmen were beyond horrible, new ones for the next AO please. I think they weren't even thanked in the speeches , especially Djokovic had good reason to leave them out. manadrainer 01-29-2012, 02:19 PM I am a Fed fan, but I have to admit that Nole is the real Spartan legend here... Nadal just does not have the balls to put away Nole... AJDE NOLE! You fucking legend... nobama 01-29-2012, 02:20 PM I wish Federer had the half of Nadal's fighting spirit. At least he's never lost to #2 seven times in a row. And all in finals. :p Li Ching Yuen 01-29-2012, 02:20 PM Go for the Grand Slam in 2012, bitch. Then speed up the fucking courts, ITF & ATP. GasquetFan 01-29-2012, 02:20 PM Amazing match :worship: l_mac 01-29-2012, 02:22 PM From a fangirl perspective, Rafa won the truly important battles of this Australian Open - destroyed the field on the AO Social Leaderboard, made the best speech and looked the most adorable :inlove: Bamos! Gagsquet 01-29-2012, 02:24 PM Glad you finally admit it. Don't quote me on this again thanks :) manadrainer 01-29-2012, 02:25 PM BTW tennis won today...that was epic. Jade Fox 01-29-2012, 02:26 PM What a match! So intense, so crazy, so much heart from two great players. :worship: Classy speech from Rafa, sweet speech from Novak. Very nice to see. And for those talking about speeding up the courts: Forget it. After this match no way will the PR people at ITF even consider it. Only a mass protest by the players would make it a possibility and even that's not certain. lucyfur 01-29-2012, 02:27 PM How do some people let a match ruin their mental health????:rolleyes: Evitman 01-29-2012, 02:28 PM Absolutely fantastic match! :worship: One of the greatest ever! :worship: I'm speechless. Gabe32 01-29-2012, 02:28 PM Well, not missing the easiest put away ever when up 4-2 30-15 would help, as would not basically giving two sets away. Let's not pretend there was anything wrong with Djokovic either. Please, please do not sum up the whole match like this. cardio 01-29-2012, 02:29 PM It's embarrasing and cringeworthy to read so much shit after a true classic match like this. Haters, please make us a favor and get a life! :wavey: Why should we to do that ? Hate is good, hate (and vodka ) keeps you in warm in cold winter nights. There is fucking 18 degrees below Celsius zero in Estonia right now.And its gonna be lot colder in night, at least 26 degrees below zero. ... I´m pretty sure you guys in sunny Spain has never experienced such a cold and bloody snow and fucking bonebraking ice on your driveway every morning. Hate is good. It keeps you in warm in cold winter nights.:D alfonsojose 01-29-2012, 02:29 PM Whistles or boos? I never want to see matches like this EVER again. They have to do something about the courts/rackets/techniques. This is the way future tennis is supposed to play, it's not good at all, IMO. Exactly. Now it's more physical. This is not googd at all for the sport. people here saying this is a greta moment for tennis it's like saying 2008 W fianl was the greatest match ever. Pure journalist crap. It has become a marathon, with two guys yielding raquects  AndyUK 01-29-2012, 02:29 PM Amazing match. Tennis truly does have better athletes than any other sport. I don't know how they keep that level up for such a long period of time. Phenomenal stuff. Well done to both players. Vyomsky 01-29-2012, 02:31 PM What a match! Nadal lost once again to Nole in a slam final. - Djoker is not playing at the level of last year but he managed to close it out. - He should have closed out the 4th set...if not the break points at least the tie-break. How did he miss the shot at the net in the tie-break? - Nole was the clearly the better player in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sets judging by how easily he held his serve and Nadal had to struggle with his. - Rafa did a classic Rafaesque comeback in the 4th and 5th. But Djoker outRafaed him. - Final set was painful and excruciating to watch. Not great tennis....just a boxing match to the death. - Wth is wrong with the linespeople? Sometimes when the ball was called out it was barely touching the inside of the line. Roger the Dodger 01-29-2012, 02:31 PM I wish Federer had the half of Nadal's fighting spirit. So true. Because he has twice the game. Still, I am very happy with how Nole played today. Everyone had written him off incase of a fifth set, but wow, he fought the dizziness off and kept his focus in the sixth hour. Amazing. :bigclap: and to Nadal too:hatoff: Billabong 01-29-2012, 02:32 PM YEEAAAHHHHH WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE VICTORY for Nole, what an epic match, how the hell did those 2 produce a match like this:eek:!!! They have reached a physical level that hasn't been matched before, just 2 titans battling out there for 6 hours, that's freakin' insane!!! Which makes Nole's victory even more magical, after his 5-sets thriller victory over Murray in the semis:o!!! Congrats Nole, you deserve this title like no other, congrats for your 3rd AO title and 5th GS title and keep up this unbelievable play:worship:!!! Rumour 01-29-2012, 02:33 PM So glad Djokovic finally pulled through in the end - what a great effort from him both physically and mentally after letting the fourth set slip from his grasp and being down a break in the fifth :worship: May not have brought or shown his very best today but that makes the win all the more meaningful in my eyes. As for Nadal, while I can certainly respect his dogged determination, I'll never appreciate his tennis game or demeanour (despite one commentator's claim on my livestream that he's the player 'most loved' by fans in decades) and can't say I was sorry to see him lose  Looking forward to RG now where I think a new winner this year is not out of the question... green25814 01-29-2012, 02:33 PM Incredible. Mad respect to both. Novak Djokovic has now reached legend status IMO. I do think they need to speed up the courts though, its just a nightmare for the player's bodies this swebright 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM Tennis lost today, no variety of shots/ plays tactically. It's pure baseline pushing and endurance test. Epitome of physical game Nadal wants to play. It's not the future of tennis. Which is worse? Serve and vollyers on fast court vs. pushers taking half a day to finish matches. Kip 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM I cannot find the words! rickcastle 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM I am a Fed fan, but I have to admit that Nole is the real Spartan legend here... Nadal just does not have the balls to put away Nole... AJDE NOLE! You fucking legend... Same. Lots of respect to both players honestly. This match was very tiring but very great to watch, lots of heart attack moments! Nadal was very clutch to save that game after being down 0-40 which could've given the match to Djokovic on his next serve. Likewise, props to Djokovic for being mentally strong enough to recoup after losing many chances in the 4th and came back from being down 4-2 to win the match. Even in the final game when he missed that smash, he just never lets his mistakes get to him and that's what makes him a champion. Respect. habibko 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM good stuff, definitely the better outcome of the match, always nice to see piggy roasted, especially when he REALLY wanted to win badly :superlol: :yeah: superslam77 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM If Rafito doesn't earn respect from his haters today, nothing will. :) Federer would have easily won 20+ slams by now if he was half the warrior these 2 guys are. you're talking about respect  supertec 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM Congratulations Djokovic. Well done Rafa. LinkMage 01-29-2012, 02:34 PM This was more like a marathon than a tennis match. Made possible by the disgustingly slow surface. Djokovic had to win points like 5 times each. The sad part is everyone will be calling this match epic so the ATP and ITF will continue with these pathetically slow courts. | |
