For the price of any Mac I would rather buy a high end spec PC. I mean I got given a MacBook a few years ago and never even touch it really, I just prefer Windows.

Mac just because it looks nicer for those too dumb (like me) to go and set up their Windows interface

+ the fact that it crashes less and also prevents me from playing games :rolls:

My Windows hasn't crashed once since a few years. So after all it can't be a fact like to stated. I use Windows 7 in Standby-Mode for weeks before rebooting it (when there are new updates available) and it still runs like after a fresh start, even tough I use several different programs which take a lot of memory.

Got a PC and a Macbook. Both are good in their own way. The trackpads on Macbook are so much better than PC laptops its not funny. The build quality and aesthetics are also on a different level, and the OS pretty much never gets virus' even without any protection.

Of course PCs are far better value for money, faster and better for software compatibility.

Macs. But they are overpriced as hell. This is the case with all Apple products: Amazing product, horrible prices

I feel compelled to point out that the primary reason for this is not that OS X has fewer security holes than Windows, but that the vast majority of virus programmers don't bother targeting OS X because it occupies such a significantly smaller share of the market.

Nevertheless, the benefit is the same (far fewer viruses on Macs), so it's certainly fair to tout in Apple's favor. Moreover, you're absolutely right about the superior build quality and aesthetics.

I don't see why people bring up build quality in this debate. I mean for the price you pay for a Mac you CAN buy a PC with great build quality.

It depends. Macs are better for certain things (music recording software, photography, architecture) but PCs are probably better for gaming etc.

It amuses me when people (mostly girls actually) get a Mac just to browse the Net and do a bit of word processing. Oh dear.

I hate all apple products with a passion. There are always better alternatives. I can't believe I used to own an ipod :o. I'm ashamed.

This. Although, now that it's rare that I practice my photography, I may be one of these girls

The only reason I'd go back to PC is if I couldn't afford another mac, so hopefully this one lasts as long as my sister's has (I think this summer will be her 7 year anniversary with her PowerBook).

BTW haven't we had this conversation a bunch of times already?

A Mac is a type of PC.

Windows vs Mac OS should be the title.

macbooks > pc laptops

road warriors and travelers can appreciate macbook construction, hardware/software integration and battery life. macbook’s also run windows 7 perfectly fine with bootcamp so you’re almost getting two laptops for the price of one.

on a related note, i recently switched from an iphone 3gs to a samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket....bad decision. the galaxy was buggy and the hardware felt plasticky and cheap (battery life sucked too). i ended up exchanging it for a iphone 4s and i couldn’t be happier, although the iphone’s screen seems a bit smallish now. samsung needs to hire real industrial designers instead of apple copycats.

my 2 cents.

Really? MacBook Air starts at $999. Not many Ultrabooks are priced less than that. And how many tablets similar to iPad (no not Kindle Fire) are priced cheaper than an iPad?
