Um,why it is called as "Devil's Bridge"?

There are numerous legends about the name. I don't remember all of them, but one was about a mark on the bridge which was believed to be left by the Devil's foot.

Today 21st May is the day of St.Konstantine and Helena.
St.Konstantine - this is the Byzantian emperor who made Christianity official religion in his empire.Helena is his mother,it's believed that on this day they found remains of the Holy cross.
It's celebrated by the marriage of Christian and Pagan tradition by doing dances on fire.Professional firedancers get into trance while holding an icon. However there aren't many genuine ones left, mainly hoaxes for tourist's entertainment.

I have some bulgarian friends (all girls). They are nice people. Wish I will visit the country someday. Also, like BauerAlmeida said, Stoichkov is a legend. That alone makes Bulgaria a great country. But I will mention 2 more football legends of your country that played in my team: Krasimir Balakov and Ivailo Iordanov!!! LOVE THEM!

Been to Bulgaria 4 times

1998 Sofia at Gradski Park for U16 Development Championship. Incredible club for us who till that time had seen maximum 5 concrete courts at the same place. Still is a great club surrounded by a forest and with aquapark nearby

1999 Sofia for 3 weeks for a language course. Thanks to that i can speak few words in bulgarian. Had the chance to explore all Sofia, went even up in the mountain (Vitosa?)

1999 Roussalka in the Black sea for U16 tournament. Amazing venue for a tournament. Could show my kayak and arching skills at the same time

2005 Sofia, U12 tennis camp at Dema Club

Dont know how much it has changed since then

dinkulpus
05-22-2013, 10:18 PM
Now I will move near Dema tennis club (in this neighborhood) :yeah: It changed a lot, there are a lot of investment in infrastructure especially in Sofia.

About club you were in 1999 now is national tennis center, next week Sofia futures will be play there.
Genci, are you plan to visit us again?

I thought you didn't date men substantially younger than you.

Dimitrov is clearly not mature enough yet.

I see Letchkov every couple weeks, as i lodge at his hotel when i go for work to Sliven and tbh he hasn't changed much since these days :)

More hooked on tennis than football nowadays though, but never had the pleasure to play with him. Only played Lubo Penev, another Bulgarian football legend, now coach of our NT.

He used to be good at tennis, quite good actually.

nah, he was persecuted for taking advantage of his mayor of Sliven position in the past, but it's all over now, i think they dropped the charges or couldn't fully prove things, dunno exactly.

It's pretty clear he's done shit, but not more than any of the other mayors in Bulgaria. Anyhow, he's now the owner of this town pretty much, but at least doing more good than harm as it looks. His sports club looks awesome, nice football pitches, very good courts, kids training all around, so...yeah.

Odd topic.

There's what like 3 Bulgarians posting on this site?

When i think of the place i imagine female trafficking, illegal drugs and well basically everything that's wrong with Eastern Europe

Volleyball is also popular in Bulgaria, right?

Some announcer from here once said volleyball is the national sport of Bulgaria and Polonia. Well, I doubt it, cause it's very difficult to find a country where the national sport is not one of the "big 4 field sports" (cricket, football, baseball and rugby).

Maybe Canada (hockey) and USA (american football, but it's football anyway ).

By my understanding, football is also the nation sport of both Bulgaria and Polonia, am I right?

yes, certainly.

Volley is probably second though, at least these last few years, decade perhaps. We've been quite successful at it and kept bringing top class players consistently through the years, so it's a very popular sport here.

In the past though, after football we've been the country of wrestling, weight lifting and artistic gymnastics. Most Olympic medals came from these sports, boxing as well, which is now getting popular again with Kubrat Pulev killing them all over the place

Football is number 1 here, but volleyball is the only sport where you find very difficult a tickets for matches for national team.

Finland also hockey is national sport, China table tennis, Malaysia is badminton, I don't know about Africa.
