I'm not 100% sure but Jarkko had some problems with his abdomen already last week. Playing 8 singles and 4 doubles matches during the past 10 days might have been a bit too much

Jarkko  predictable after having played 12 matches in a week.
David :yeah: good luck against Isner

Nothing happened
Nieminen was just tired as I expected. It's normal to be so
He reached the final in both singles and doubles in Sydney and only 1 day after he had to go to Melbourne and play against Nalbandian

Very good advertise for Australian Open Series. Scheduling Nieminen's match on Monday after two finals on Sunday in Sydney, showed it's not worth attending Sydney if you want to succeed at AO.

there really should be a special rule for scheduling the finalists of the week before an event. happens so often that these players go out directly in the first round of the next event...

classic scheduling from the organisers. Screwed Nemo over.
But he was always going to struggle here. He overplayed in Sydney entering and reaching finals of both singles and doubles and the rain delay didnt help...

Yet, had the match been tomorrow and Nalby still winning it, Nalby wouldn't have had the rest day like Isner, just because of his opponent's final. But, maybe also Isner's match should've been scheduled for tomorrow.

what happened was that nieminen focused on mickey mouse tournaments instead of the big one

the organizers were pricks with their scheduling but hey, he's got no-one to blame.

Scheduling was very poor indeed, but Nieminen chances were much better to win the Sydney Tournament than the A.O. anyway at least IMHO. So at least he picked up a title which it had been 6 years since he won his only other title. So he at least got another Tournament win :)

The biggest scheduling fail was still Sydney. By scheduling a night final, they too a risk that rain postpones the match till Sunday. If rain postpones an afernoon final, they still have time to play in the evening. And, for Nieminen, playing in Sydney was understandable. He needs to play to get ranking points. If he gets to semis or final, the big number of matches is still accptable, he doesn't get that long too often.

Yeah, as a fan I'm more happy of Sydney singles' title plus doubles' final and AO R1 than e.g. Sydney QF and AO R3. (which would've meant he would've needed to win Nalby and Isner) And also, Nalby could've won Jarkko even with better scheduling, but still, the scheduling was really poor.

tough luck for nieminen due to bad scheduling but its good to see nalbandian continue without too much difficulty as a tough match is coming up for him next.

Too bad for Jarkko, it seemed like he could have had chance to make it tight match today too before those problems started becoming so bad it clearly affected his serve and eventually game too... Hope he gets well soon.

Scheduling had nothing to do with this. The rain on Saturday in Sydney was the problem.

Baghdatis is smart as he probably took it safe and tanked against Benny to avoid this scenario lol

Jarkko's abs were taped as they were last week, with additional tape applied during the match.

Honestly, better to leave Australia with the Sydney title and AO R1 than Sydney QF and AO R3... It's not like his draw was cupcake.

I'm happy for Nalby and sad for Nieminen : organizers should have let him 1 rest day instead of this wild schedule. Don't know if his injury has something to do with it but it's unfair.

some seriously good ballstriking from both before Nemo retired, a few epic BHDTLs from Sharkko :)
