Davy is losing to anyone who hits at a consistent level these days.

He'll be back.

Okay, if this isn't a sign that he should retire, I'm not sure wtf is. Please retire Mugdenko, another player could be using this opportunity.

I love you Davy but I agree with everyone else here. Time to pack it in and save yourself from further humiliations at the hands of worthless mugs.

kolya might be one of those mid-season retirements if these results continue. If munich isn't defended and he starts losing in qualis, he might just hang it up and he definitely should.

Topspinvet showed his, okay call it "intelligence" again.

Davydenko actually stole me some Euros, didn´t expect him to lose against ... argh ... Cipolla.

Denko is officially done

I was at this match. There was a strong breeze, and Davydenko could not seem to hold serve hitting into the wind, and was constantly complaining about the sun from that end as well. He was creating plenty of openings, but time and again he couldn't put away the last shot. He was really agitated right from the start.

Cipolla defended pretty well, and basically sliced Davydenko to death.

Very disappointing match, all told.

Davydenko is finished. I can understand if he drew a tough opponent but Cipolla? :spit:

If this isn't Rafatardism at its finest, I don't know what is.Maybe a troll account, or so I've been told, but that was my impression as well. People should stop quoting him, out of respect for those who have him on ignore.

Jesmond, thanks for the recap.

So now we see Nadull's "tough draw" (as described by Rafatards) for what it is.

Why is he still playing? IF guys like Roddick and Hewitt were going out to journeymen every Slam they would have packed it in by now. Davy was once a top 5 player and a very good one. Shame.

Sorry for Nikolay, he can really do better than this.

Bitter Rafascum as always.

It's probably time for him now, but he's had an entertaining career. No one saw his rise coming, but he suddenly went from counter-puncher to one of the purest strikers of a ball I've seen play tennis.

The Puerta SF, 06 AO third set v Fed and 2010 AO QF v Fed were the big chances he had for a slam but choked. Had he won the latter, Tsonga, Murray and Cilic would have been in his way. He could have won it.

Talk about a low point. One of the best players never to reach a slam final is humiliating himself. Does he have one very good major in him? Not on this result. He should finish the year and see where he is at the end. If he is still losing to journey men by the end of the year then he should call it a day.

This result really made me sad. The loss is one thing. To win three games in the last two sets against this guy leads me to think that he ran out of gas, which does not compute.
