There will always be GOAT debates, but no one seems to be able to give and answer on who the true GOAT is :o
Well, I have proposed the "TENNIS Trinity." In other words, the 3 tennis players who have displayed what a true CHAMPION of the sport is.

The Trinity

Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Rod Laver

They have displayed class (looks at Nadal) fight, appreciation of the sport, technique, and have revolutionized the game  And no, Nadal has not proved himself yet to be part of the "Trinity."
Weigh in with your thoughts please.

:drive:

Nadal is greater than Laver no matter if you like him or not .....and I can make the case that he is greater than Sampras too

Sampras doesn't belong with Federer & Laver - his utter irrelevancy at arguably the second most prestigious slam disqualifies him in my opinion. Clay has a long history in the sport and to be unable to adapt at all in as long a career as Sampras had is a big reason why I think he can't compete with Fed & Laver. I would also put Borg above Sampras personally - it's arguable sure - 3 more slams is a lot, and being no. 1 for so long is a great achievement too - but when I consider who Borg played against & the era in which he completed 3 channel slams, to me he is elevated above Sampras.

For me Tier 1 is Laver, Federer, Sampras, Borg and Nadal - Nadal & Borg both have achievements that compensate for the fewer slams and still put them in the conversation. But really Federer and Laver are a tier above the other 3 - Nadal can still get to that top tier in my opinion if he wins between 2-4 more slams & particularly if he gets the outright Roland Garros record...

^^^

You are making jokes again, aren't you. USO is the second oldest tournament in the whole world (that is planet Earth), just a few years younger than Wimbledon. How is RG the second most prestigious slam again? Oh yes, because the Spanish one has won that a few times.

Nadaltards are seriously having a field day today with their jokes.

I'd also put Laver, Fed and Sampras together even though I haven't watched much of Sampras but I liked the little that I saw and have seen from his past matches.
