Who is Djokovic's real rival, Roger Or Rafa?

Nole Rules

I always thought that his real rival was Roger because he really hates losing to him and Nole obviously fears Federer more than Rafa because he knows that in-form Fed can hurt him much more than in-form Rafa.

Murray

None of them, his body seems to be his worst rival. last year he was injured and exhausted after USO so he's only able to play 8 months / year at the age of 23 !

Novak started dominating Nadal truly only last year. Before 2011, Nadal was definitely his hardest opponent off hard courts.
In 2011 his entire game, physical and mental strength came together and he figured out how to outhit and outlast Nadal. Agaisnt this Djokovic, Nadal has nowhere to go. Agaist this Djokovic, Federer has the best chance because he is more naturally aggressive. That isnt the case against just Djokovic, its against more or less everyone. Federer at his best is still better than anyone else on a tennis court. But thats all really. That doesnt make Federer his "real rival". Federer wont be there always, not at 31. Even in a single season, Federer no longer makes the final stages of all tournament like he once did. Thus, against peak Djokovic, he doesnt qualify as the "real rival". But no doubt, Federer proved the guy who can hurt Djokovic most likely in 2011.

Novak does seem to "hate" losing to Fed more, but that has more to do with the history between them. Roger hasnt taken kindly to Novak's on court antics and retirements in the past and often had harsh words (even calling him a 'Drama Queen' once :superlol:). But basically, they seem to get along just alright really. Fed-Nadal off court bromance is hardly the prototype.

Federer may be GOAT, but Nole fans shouldnt hype him up as Novak's "real rival". It doesnt say much about your domination if your real rival is a guy who has played over 1000 pro matches alone and is on the wrong side of his 30s...;)

Fed is older, but their matches are definitely the ones you don't want to miss.

Rivalries span more than one season. :o Nadal is still 16-14, they've had some absolute classics as well as great matches with stunning tennis (Olympics 08, Hamburg 08, Madrid 09, US Open 10 & 11) - sure Roger/Novak had the better matches last year because 2 were so close and grand slam semis too, but overall Djokovic/Nadal is the better rivalry.

And all this "Nadal causes Djokovic no problems" stuff - sure Nadal's an easier match up for Novak than Novak is for Nadal but to think that Novak thinks he can easily beat the guy is ridiculous. They've played each other more than anyone else on tour and know what they're both capable of - that only engenders respect I'm sure. Novak now has the upperhand but their matches are still compelling - who could watch that US Open final and not want more encounters like that? The level in the 3rd set was better than anything else in the tournament. Let's see how this year pans out before declaring which rivalry is better.

I have a feeling Murray will add himself into the conversation too - he may be Novak's biggest rival this year - who knows....

Roger.

Nadal hardly took a set from novak in GS and roger won the RG and had 2 match points in USO

Roger. I've always enjoyed their matches. Even the ones that Nole lost.

Well, Djoker must be afraid of Roger more, because even now, at 30, when RF is playing his best tennis, no one (not even Novak) can beat him. Sadly, these days are very rare now.

He/She agrees with you, he/she voted Nadal.

You mean starting in 2012? Andy Murray.

Federer is over 30 and Nadal can only win titles on clay(last big title off clay was the USO 2010) these days.

Can't vote since the option is not there.

Nadal isn't even a rival anymore. He's just someone Djoko sits on to win Slams. He doesn't have a rival yet maybe Murray in the future. Fed right now is the only player who has the best chance of beating him.

Since now ATP starts to put Federer and Nadal in the same side, we need time to answer.
