Ok.The schedule for first day is out http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/scores/schedule/index.html

Surprised to see that Verdasco-Tomic is not the night session match.Federer will play against a qualifier in the evening while Nadal will play against another qualifier last match on Hisense.

Well Tomic was always going to be on RLA & maybe they didn't want to add the pressure of a night match. That leaves either Federer or Nadal for the night match & I suspect they take player preferences into account (the tournament director was saying they look at requests etc.) - Nadal's said he prefer playing in the heat & the sun while Fed clearly thrives in night matches (great at the US Open...) so they probably prefer those options than the other way around....

Tomic Verdasco should have been the night match.

Agreed with others that Tomic/Verdasco should've been the night match.

You have to imagine Channel 7 (host broadcaster) would've asked for it to be the night match with maximum audience but I'm thinking Tomic requested it to be during the day as I think that gives him the better chance.

Nadal on Hisense is a head scratcher, Rafa and Federer both should've been on RLA with Tomic on at night.

what a bummer for haas. court 7 is a slap in the face.

Have I missed something? Did people really think Haas, against an unseeded opponent no less, would really be on a showcourt?? I like Haas, but cmon...

Was expecting RLA to be honest.

Tomic has complained before about night matches taking him beyond his bedtime, so that could explain his placement.

Don't need cameras if you're in the crowd :)

In fact, in which courts are cameras, so we will be able to watch them via any stream ?
Could someone write the list of these courts ? I´ll be thankful. :)

For sure: Rod Laver, Margaret Court, Hisense, and Courts 2, 3, 6, 8 according to ESPN3.com . . . not sure about the rest

Nemo has it tough.

They might reschedule now considering that the Sydney final has been moved to tomorrow :p

Will Nemo pull out ? Not a single rest day between Sydney and AO seems very complicated

Singles final and doubles final on Sunday. Possibly 10 sets + match tiebreaker in 2 days.

Oh poor Jarkko  He's in the final in Sydney in both singles and doubles and then after 24 h he must go to Melbourne and play Nalbandian.Fucking ridiculous
And i guess it's been a long time since Federer and Nadal both played in the first day of a GS tournament isn't it? :)

Yeah hope Jarkko can handle this. :o Could've been a good match vs Nalbandian, I bet they're gonna push it to Tuesday though.

you know tomic didnt want the night match, given his reaction to getting that last time.

the slams may be in a position they haven't been in for a long time having fed and nadal play on the same day. i think this means both will have to play more matches on the 2nd court, as it just seems court overkill to have both on the same court.

tomic was always going to be RLA, day is probably better for him. vika on 1st on RLA will ensure i 3/4 empty stadium till about 1pm.

hahahha sarcasm??

really shocked Nadal is not on Laver OR Margaret but it is what it is.... let's hope the Australian Open does not cater to Tomic's favor in scheduling, it is strange to put the Verdasco/Tomic match not at night all things considered. are they only considering Tomic's preferences hahah

with the bottom half starting on first on monday does this guarantee the bottom half semi final to be played on Thursday night I think its australia day or somthing and the top half will play their semi on friday? Is this how it has been in the past?

Yeah. Hisense is the 2nd main court. There's absolutely no way they would have put Nadal on MCA considering it's a court which ground passes can get you into.

Providing the weather, this is exactly what will happen. :)

Grand Slam schedulers will never learn. They always choose names over matches. Clearly Murray-Harrison should be on centre court instead of Djokovic-Lorenzi.

Yes indeed, but what shock me even more is that you have matches like Ito-Starace and Chela-Russell on show courts...
Yet you have Llodra-Gulbis, Tipsarevic-Tursunov and Youzhny-Golubev (1 handed BH battle) with no camera..
